The Wolverine gets official release date for next summer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE may have been a disappointment to fans, but it made a ton of money despite the film being bootlegged a month before release. Despite some production delays 20th Century Fox seems to have gotten things all set for the sequel, which now has an official release date of July 26th, 2013.

James Mangold (WALK THE LINE, COP LAND, IDENTITY) will direct since Darren Aronofsky dropped off last year. The main villain this time will be the Silver Samurai, as the film sees Logan starting a relationship with a Japanese woman who’s engaged to another man.

Mangold has said before how he’s seeking to make this a more personal film, perhaps even more of a mystery than a straight-up action film, although there will certainly be plenty of that. He’s gotta get those claws out against the samurai at some point, obviously.

The release date will put THE WOLVERINE against the light competition of that DIRTY DANCING remake and Walt Disney’s PHINEAS AND FERB film.

So wow, a ton of comic book movies on the way next year too. Besides THE WOLVERINE we’re going to see MAN OF STEEL, IRON MAN 3 and THOR 2. What do you think- do you want to see more of Logan’s adventures?
