There will be no more Heroes after Reborn

01.13.2016

If you were a fan of HEROES and have enjoyed this recent revival of REBORN on NBC, you might want to figure out how you can hold onto it for as long as possible, because once the finale airs, HEROES ain't coming back.

NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt spoke today at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour and talked about the lack of future HEROES has at the network beyond this current season.

That was always the plan, unless Tim [Kring] woke up one day and said, 'Oh, I have another chapter to tell.' But I think we're coming to the end of the world, maybe. Stay tuned.

Of course he's hoping you'll keep watching what's left of HEROES REBORN as the season wraps up. Unfortunately I don't get the feeling a lot of people are going to miss HEROES when it's gone... again. Most fans started checking out after the first season of the show's original run, and while there was some curiosity about how the show might look in its return, that curiosity quickly started to fade after the premiere with ratings declining along the way.

Oh well... Once they saved the cheerleader, thus saving the world, what the hell else were they supposed to do?

The series finale of HEROES REBORN airs on January 21.

HEROES REBORN was necessary to solve the cliffhanger from the 4th season finale. They did give us that... but also a bunch of new characters. It's been hard to get invested in some of them. So far, only some of the original characters' fates have been revealed, and it hasn't been very satisfying. I hope the same doesn't happen with PETER, ANDO and SYLAR.

I know this announcement the limited series strategy where they can pretend it was meant to be a mini-series, but I'm just glad to hear

Missed opportunity....

This season had the potential to be outstanding. They had some very interesting characters, interesting new powers, and a threat that made the mission worth watching. They even had a few of the great old characters making appearances. However, they've wandered aimlessly, introduced ridiculous ideas (really....a video game girl made real by a power???), and relegated the best character the show ever introduced to someone without powers who raised a child in the past and had impact on the main

However, they've wandered aimlessly, introduced ridiculous ideas (really....a video game girl made real by a power???), and relegated the best character the show ever introduced to someone without powers who raised a child in the past and had impact on the main parts of the show. Then on top of everything, they used a time travel episode to reset the characters so they could lengthen the plot a few episodes.

Seriously, why can't these idiots shoot the bad guys (or teleport them to the middle of the ocean) instead of constantly allowing them to escape? Why is Parkman so stupid he thinks his family is going to be saved by a sociopath who is intentionally trying to exterminate humanity? Why do all the characters continue to do the dumbest thing possible in an effort to justify the plot?

The first season was so well written that it's really disappointing to see the dropoff in quality. This show should be much more.

This isn't surprising at all, which is a shame considering the series had so much potential after an excellent first season.
