There Will Be Vader

05.12.2008
Thanks to consumer editing software and an online place to plunk the results, movie mash-ups are increasingly common. Sadly, they're often not nearly as clever in execution as the creators might think, but there is the occasional gem.

For example, blending STAR WARS with Paul Thomas Anderson's masterful THERE WILL BE BLOOD, with oil-man Darth Plainview and his complicated father-son relationship, results in the following inspired video. "Drraaaaaaiiinnage!!"

Thanks to 'Beech' for the heads up!

Extra Tidbit: A condensed variant of the clip can be seen RIGHT HERE.

That was classic. I really got a great laugh out of it. Who made it?

Funny...

...but not in big capital letters. I felt it became a little overdone by the time he got around to "I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD!"

Loved the "Bastard in a basket" segment, though.

Meh

Yeah, that was pretty awful. The Coming to America/Star Wars mash-up (Seen here: [link] was funnier by miles.

It's a concept that could produce some yucks, to be sure, but it didn't really work this time out. Just a series of random events and sound bites that never really fit what was happening on-screen.

Good concept; terrible execution.
