Bates Motel Brooke Smith

Bates Motel is still casting its fifth and final season, and while they haven't made another decision quite on the high-profile level of the controversial choice to have Rihanna star as Marion Crane, they've been quietly assembling a cast of seasoned TV veterans.

The newest acquisition is Brooke Smith, who will be stepping into the role of Dana Green, the new sheriff in town. She is "competent, professional, moralistic and sharp. She possesses a small-town vibe that belies her highly observant nature."

Best known for playing the Buffalo Bill captive Catherine Martin in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, Smith has more recently appeared in shows like Ray Donovan and Grey's Anatomy.

She joins a cast that also includes Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Isabelle McNally, and Nestor Carbonell.

This contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho gives viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. “Bates Motel” gives fans access to the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.
