There's more to the story than the trailer for Labor Day with Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet shows

Jason Reitman may have outdone himself with his next effort, LABOR DAY. The tone and subject matter are certainly a different direction for Reitman who adapted the screenplay from author Joyce Maynard's coming of age story. What you might think is a tale of a Mother and Son being held against their will by their captor, is actually something more than it seems.

"Your Mother was like that, she was in love with love."

Here's a second more lengthy trailer. It does give a fair bit away, so if you'd rather see the events unfold in the theater then stick with the first trailer:

Synopsis:

LABOR DAY centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

The look of the trailer is fantastic along with the choice of song. I've seen several glowing reviews of the film, and a couple on the mediocre side. Everything that Jason Reitman has directed up until now has been an enjoyable experience for me. Even though YOUNG ADULT was not well received, I actually ended up liking it as well as the performances from Charlize Theron and Patton Oswalt. Keep an eye out for a quick flash of James Van Der Beek as a cop, and an ear open for the narration of Clark Gregg.

LABOR DAY hits theaters in limited release on December 25, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: For those wondering, the song is "Take Us Alive" by Other Lives.

So excited now!

I've heard about it but these are the first trailers I've seen. Looks so good and I love both Josh and Kate.

I f*cking love Kate Winslet. I think Revolutionary Road is what did it for me.

Loved this film!

Saw this at TIFF this year, and it was personally my favorite film that I saw out of the 11 films I saw at the festival. It even got a standing ovation, which I thought totally deserved. If you really loved Up In the Air, you will with this one too.

seems nothing like Up In The Air, so how would liking one equate to liking the other? just because they are the same director doesn't mean what someone enjoyed about Up In The Air will be in this movie as well. That is like saying if you loved Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom you will love Lincoln just because they are both directed by Spielberg.

Relax man. I was really just trying to get at the fact that you can find the similar emotion base that was presented in Up In the Air. I apologize for not stating that, I was merely trying to express that I enjoyed the film. Cool with you bud?

Looks fantastic. Really looking forward to this one and it looks like Brolin and Winslet are really at the top of their game with this one.
