Dwarves abound in this batch of new stills released from THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, and my day is definitely better for it.  The stills give is a few fresh peeks at some jolly moments shared with Bilbo in his home of Bag End, as well as a glimpse at moments of a more intense nature found later on in the film.

The detail on the sets and costumes is of course impeccable, and while the stills may not be the most action packed they nonetheless certainly serve to bolster my excitement for the film.  Peter Jackson has proved time and time again that he captures character interaction with as much aplomb as he does epic combat, and if these stills are any indication THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is going to be no different.

You can bet your brown britches I'll be in line, ticket in hand, bright and early the morning of December 14th.

Also I'm reading The Hobbit again and there's fuck all talking in it so to make an adaptation as close to the book as possible it probably wouldn't even work as a film it would just be a bunch of little guys walking with a handfull of things happening I mean nothing happens between Hobbiton and Rivendell except the Troll scene and finding the Trolls horde.
I found a really interesting article from the OneRing website and it really puts the whole 3Hobbit films into perspective. It's long but

Haters gunna hate.

I thought that by now people would understand that Jackson is putting together an Epic. Yes he is stretching that little book called The Hobbit into three films. This is the only way he can do it. He can't do an epic in one film. It's just not Peter Jackson. He just doesn't do small pictures anymore. He is filming a whole shitload of stuff from the Lotr appendices. He's all set up to make a middle earth story and it would be silly and not very cost effective to come back to it in a few years

He's all set up to make a middle earth story and it would be silly and not very cost effective to come back to it in a few years time to do another one what with Gandalf not getting any younger and besides it would be damn near impossible to make a coherrant film out of just the appendices alone.... It wouldn't flow so the best and only way is to splice the scenes into the Hobbit story. He cant do The Silmarillion coz he doesnt have the rights to it coz the Tolkien foundation won't release them so this is his last chance to do Tolkien justice. You can say what you like about Jackson but you gotta admit the fellas got talent. Don't shoot him down just yet. Give it a chance.

I thought the first trilogy was "ok", not a huge fan but definitely appreciated the filmaking aspect. The preview for The Hobbit doesn't impress me much. And the fact that they stretched one movie into two makes me think these will be less impressive than the original trilogy.

Wow, the stills make me want to see it less

Usually I don't care one way or another about promo stills, but this time... I just get further convinced that I would not like this movie. Or the next two.
