This isn’t April Fools: Mike Myers to star in live action Pepe Le Pew movie

I’ll admit to being a big Looney Tunes geek when I was a little kid. I watched those cartoons obsessively and one of my favorite underrated characters was always Pepe Le Pew. The setup was always the same (black cat accidentally striped with white paint, Pepe romances rather aggressively) but there was something so optimistic and pure about Pepe that was different that all the other characters. But never in my head did I ever think Pepe would make it to the big screen. Oh how I was wrong.

Mike Myers is currently attached to voice the character in PEPE LE PEW, a live-action/CGI film based on the popular character. If you’re having trouble imaging how this would play out, imagine ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS or YOGI BEAR…but with Pepe Le Pew. Word has it that only Pepe and his love interest Penelope Pussycat would be rendered in CGI while the rest of the film would be shot in live-action. How exactly they plan on turning a rather one-note premise into an entire feature remains to be seen.

The PEPE LE PEW movie is just one step in Warner Bros.’ plan to reintroduce the Looney Tunes characters to a younger audience. 3D short films starring Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner have been running before some of WB’s recent kid-friendly material like LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS and CATS AND DOGS 2 (another will run before YOGI BEAR this December).

I will now leave you with a classic Pepe Le Pew cartoon and allow you to properly vent in the Strike Backs below.
