This new television spot for The Big Wedding with Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton and Robin Williams is incredibly painful to watch

The Big Wedding

Part of me is sad when I see great actors reduced to predictable, lazy films but on the other hand I know to them it is just a paycheck. We get invested in these actors when they have played iconic roles or been in films we have loved and then become outraged when the actors star in something that we feel is beneath them. But to them it is a business and sometimes you just need to pay your bills.

I might be slightly defending THE BIG WEDDING but believe me it still looks pretty horrendous. The film will probably do decent business because there's always a market for movies like this. Someone had to go see PARENTAL GUIDANCE for it to do over $70 million and I'm sure it'll be huge on Redbox once it's released on DVD. But my God it feels like my soul is burning when I watch this new spot for THE BIG WEDDING. Seriously, I've been pissing sulfur all morning.

"Here's an example of how to make a film completely unappealing to anyone under the age of forty"

Synopsis:

With an all-star cast led by Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, with Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, THE BIG WEDDING is an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son's wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future - and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process.

Make sure you mark it on your calender because I'm sure your Grandmother is going to want to see it: THE BIG WEDDING is out on April 26th, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: I love Robin Williams but I think it might be his turn to spend some time in Movie Jail. At least a weekend stay.

Do anyone have that feeling when they watch a certain trailer when the Movie voice guy says " If they can only survive each other..." to proceed to find the guy and punch him in the face.

Every time i hear that saying i know the movie's gonna be bad.

Robin Williams as a Catholic priest. I dig that. Won't see this though. Not ever.

Not every movie has to be for our demographic, my in laws raved about parental guidance they said it was so funny and I know that this is right up their alley. They go to the movie regularly so it's nice that they have options as well. Now me, you would have to pay me to sit through this crap!

Are movies like this made because they tend to do big box office or do they do big box office because this type of movie is all that's being made?
