This Super Bowl ad spot for World War Z is not all that special

Jan. 31, 2013by: Niki Stephens

One would figure that if you are airing a trailer during the Super Bowl that it would be slightly impressive, and contain tons of new footage. WORLD WAR Z does not aim to impress on this holy day of American football. Sure, there's some new stuff like the airplane scene, but there's not enough to make this worthwhile.

I am a person who does enjoy Brad Pitt, however, this does not look appealing to me yet. It's like 2012 meets horrible CGI meets several other zombie movies. WORLD WAR Z deserves better. Maybe these are just crappy cuts. Hope the movie is better than this. Check it out below.

Synopsis: The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Mireille Enos plays Gerry's wife Karen Lane; Daniella Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

WORLD WAR Z is due to hit theaters on June 21, 2013.

Agreed

I am not won over by anything I've seen... yet. Hopefully, this is a good (zombie) film.

They literally paid $3-4 million for a Super Bowl spot that is just a condensed version of the first trailer with some additional boring dialogue thrown in.

This is green because I'm still intrigued to see it but not too good for marketing. I do like the massive scope they're showing as the epidemic spreads.

I'm stoked for this, when was the last time Pitt did summer blockbuster movies? Troy and Mr. And Mrs. Smith, which are both big guilty pleasures of mine. he's a GREAT actor, so it's cool to see him in different stuff. I think I have a big advantage not having read the book, with nothing to compare this to, it just looks like Brad Pitt protecting his family against a zombie apocalypse, I'm sold.

There should be a serious, non-parody, non-comical movie called "BWAAWM!" in which that sound starts to play loudly over an entire city when something destructive is about to happen, and the only thing that can save the world is a cockroach.

Fucking funniest comment I ever read. I laughed so hard. I would paid to see that just for the sheer insanity of it. And have the cockroach talk at the end. YOUR WELCOME. and it ends.

That zombie ant tower is hilariously stupid. I guess zombies are super powered and super coordinated acrobats now. As for the tidal wave of zombies, I have no response to that. It's just so illogical it makes my head explode. Apparently zombies discovered anti-gravity, maybe?

makes me scared that we haven't seen any closeups of these zombies yet (just fast cuts). I'm hoping we get something similar to the walking dead, but with the way they haven't really shown us anything new I'm not expecting anything amazing. I would love to be wrong though!

I, Zombie

like I, Robot (the movie, not the book) with zombies. in fact, i imagine this will have as much or less to do with the WWZ book than Will Smith's flick did with Asimov.
Still, Pitt has made some great choices in the last few years. I will give it a shot.
