This trailer for David Schwimmer's Trust has Clive Owen getting revenge on an internet predator

Aug. 2, 2010by: Niki Stephens

I might have been in the minority when it came to actually enjoying David Schwimmer first feature directorial effort, RUN, FATBOY, RUN.

Now Schwimmer is going with a completely different tone for the thriller, TRUST.

From the looks of the trailer, the film could be a decent revenge flick. It also helps that Catherine Keener and Clive Owen are in the lead roles. The story centers on a married couple (Keener and Owen) that seem to have a safe family environment, until their daughter falls prey to an internet predator who disguises himself as a teenage boy. After the daughter has an dangerous altercation with the predator, her father searches the country in order to track the perv down and exact his revenge.

Beware the internet.

Extra Tidbit: Schwimmer was great in 2005's DUANE HOPWOOD.

Seems kind of weird for a sexual predator to meet a kid in a public place like a mall, especially when she's expecting someone more her age and there is someone right there sitting next to her. Then cut to: "Your daughter was sexually assaulted!" Maybe there is something in between we're not seeing so I'll reserve my judgment till I see it.

I'm impressed. This looks like it could be a very entertaining film. Haven't seen anything else directed by Schwimmer, and his acting from Friends is about the only thing I've seen his acting in, and that left a sour taste in my mouth. But I love a good Clive Owen flick. Especially when he's chasing bad guys and exacting some kind of violence on them.

He sold me as an actor in "Band of Brothers.

I'll give this a try. He was so good in BOB. He really showed he had some acting chops in that role. I never liked "Friends" & that was the 1st real thing he did that was really good.

Clive Owen is sooo good playing the straight guy getting revenge. The International, Derailed, Children of Men and now this. I'm excited.

Looks like a winner to me. Honestly, who here doesn't think they would go Taken/Man on Fire if someone did this to your loved one? How could you control yourself?

Revenge is a horrible thing, but that doesn't mean its wrong

What are the odds most people would get the chance? Taken and Man on Fire are about professionals, the original "Death Wish" is probably closer to how it would really happen. Generally speaking these stories rely on incompetent cops who don't know anything.

Parts of this were filmed in Plymouth in the same park where they just filmed scenes for Scream 4. My hometown is becoming quite the lil miss hollywood.

David Schwimmer

Good for him. I am glad he is branching into different territories early in his directing career. I loved his comedy Run fatboy, run. I cant wait for this drama/thriller!
