This trailer shows Jason Segel as Jeff, Who Lives At Home

Jan. 20, 2012by: Alex Riviello

Paramount Vintage has just released the trailer for Jay and Mark Duplass's JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME.

The film stars Jason Segel as a thirty year-old man living in his mother's wood-paneled basement who gets sent out on an important quest for wood glue, and follows various signs he thinks the universe is giving to him. The film also stars Ed Helms, Judy Greer and Susan Sarandon.

I'm not sure why, but the way this film is shot is bugging me. It seems a little too loose and handheld documentary-styled for a comedy, and what's with all those zooms? It's not a Italian horror flick from the 70s, it's mumblecore.

JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME will be released on March 16th.

I think the film looks terrific. Movie looks like it is going to have a lot of great humor and heart in it. Segel is also becoming one of my favorite comedic actors after Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, and How I Met Your Mother.

This and Five Year Engagement are comedies I can't wait to see.

The trailer had me sold through the first half. Then, I agree with openhand24. The story looks too familiar. A neurotic fellow goes on his quirky journey. A straight-laced guy gets his staid world problematized (e.g. Ed Helms in 2011's Cedar Rapids). And, the family all fucken hugs at the end. Also, the film looks too cutesy. Perhaps, someone should make a comedy in which Jeff does not leave the basement. It could be true-to-life. I have had plenty of great parties with unemployed friends who

Looks great!

I think this looks like a great movie. Jason Segel and Ed Helms are dynamite, and it seems to have the right amount of funny and heart to make it special. Of course I could be wrong, but I'm digging the trailer.

With that ridiculous goatee, Ed Helms looks like Paul Giamatti!

about the way it's been shot: I think it tries to go for an arthouse look. Listen to the soundtrack of that trailer, it oozes arty-farty

simply put: A (typically low budget) film, with a character based narrative focusing on relationships. Here is a link to an article.

E.T.: I consider the title fitting considering realistic dialogue that consists of 'mumble'-like conversations.
