Thor to strut his stuff on Earth to the music of Foo Fighters

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It’s been a while since we had a rockin superhero theme song. The last one I can remember off the top of my head is Nickleback’s “Hero” from the original SPIDER-MAN (though I’m sure the commenters will remind me of something I missed). But THOR and Foo Fighters are looking to change all that.

Paramount, Marvel and Foo Fighters have collaborated on THOR and the upcoming Foo track, “Walk,” will be featured in the film. In an early scene in the film, Thor, who’s been stripped of his powers and sent to Earth by Odin, gets drunk at a roadhouse bar where the Foo track is playing. Later the song will play in full at the end of the film and over the credits.

Turns out Kenneth Branagh heard an early cut of the song and felt the lyrics, which allude to being “a million miles away” and learning to walk again, had a special meaning and fit the theme of the movie. I haven’t heard the song nor seen the movie so I can’t vouch for that, but I’ve embedded the song so let’s take a listen.

Yeah sure, it’s definitely a Foo Fighters song. And I guess it’s also a song for the end credits of a movie. Lest you think that this is the last you’ll hear of THOR and the Foos, producer Kevin Fiege says, “There’s the possibility of some joint appearances between the band and some of the cast.” A pregnant Natalie Portman singing “My Hero?” A drunk Anthony Hopkins singing “Everlong?” I’m down.
