Three new stills from MIB3 with Will Smith and Josh Brolin reveal more of the same

Feb. 21, 2012by:

Three new stills from Barry Sonnenfeld's MEN IN BLACK 3 have shown up online from Empire Magazine's latest issue (courtesy of CBM) and show Will Smith and Josh Brolin as Agent J and Agent K, respectively, wearing black suits and doing very little else.

Check 'em out below:

Meh. I'm just not sold on another MIB. The first two were fun films, albeit I've never needed to see them a second time. I like Will Smith and really wish he'd jump into some edgier material. The guy has got the chops to amp it up, but this just feels like playing it safe and, dare I say, calling it in? Do we really need/want another MIB film?

I guess box office tells the tale on that one as the first two grossed $440 million, not including home video or licensing sales.  I hate the term "cash grab" but I think we can all agree that this is what most people would call a "safe bet."  Perhaps a new trailer will generate some excitement.  At the least, Josh Brolin playing Tommy Lee Jones should be a hoot.

Here's what you can expect for now:

Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back...in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him -- secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.

Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, Emma Thompson, Jemaine Clement, and Bill Hader get in on the *yawn* 3D action on May 25th, 2012.

Oh...and Alice Eve...

Extra Tidbit: Okay, pretend we're Hollywood execs and we are looking for movie ideas to take Will Smith into the adult-themed world. Pitch us your idea and ideal cast/crew. We're timing you.

First: On Alice Eve, am I the only one disturbed by her face? Her body is fine, but her face turns me off. Ok, now on Smith and this film. I'm fairly indifferent on the film. It has a great cast, but MIB2 was fairly boring and my interest in the series has not stayed at all. MIB2 was what? Over ten years ago now? However, I like Smith. When he's good, he's good (Pursuit of Happiness, Ali, Enemy of the State) and when he's not so good, he usually at least makes entertaining films. He's a

He's a talented guy even if a lot of his films are easy. I don't mind that. I know what to expect from Smith and I usually get what I expect, though occassionally am pleasantly surprised. This has a good cast though, so hopefully it's at least entertaining.

I gonna be upset if Tommy Lee Jones is only in this film for 10 minutes. Nothing against Brolin, but you know after a couple scenes watching him act like Jones will get old.

You could be right. I think it could go either way. Either he'll eclipse Jones and be a total riot or it'll get older than Billy Crystal.

It is common knowledge that Will Smith and his agent years ago invented a formula as to which films he will and won't do. This was just as he was transitioning from Fresh Prince to film. He has been open about it. They basically created a box office success algorithm. He strays from this very rarely. He is all about being a movie star and a successful brand, and less interested in being an actor or an artist. Which is fine, do your thing, but I do wish the family would stop forcing their kids

@extra tidbit

hmm, thats kind of tough because Will Smith has been in nearly every major genre; Sci-fi (his favourite), action (Jerry Bruckheimer can testify), drama (2 time Oscar nominated) comedy (take your pick).
I guess that leaves Horror: ok here goes.

Will Smith is some hot-shot rich (insert: occupation) who learns he has just inherited a run-down local store in the middle of nowhere.
As he and his family explore the joint to renovate it, he starts getting flash-backs (not his) and doesn't know

Will Smith is some hot-shot rich (insert: occupation) who learns he has just inherited a run-down local store in the middle of nowhere.
As he and his family explore the joint to renovate it, he starts getting flash-backs (not his) and doesn't know why. The only guys who have an idea are creepy bear-trapper (Wilem Dafoe) and a mystic native (Moonblood Good)
Will Smith in Ghost Town Cowboys!
Altenatively:
Will could go the Indie route; Will is a bartender with a heart of gold running a bar (hey, what do you know) his dad (Danny Glover) left him and his regular customers are Dave (Chris Pine) a disillsion war vet trying to adjust to normal life from his tour in (insert: middle east country), Janet (Paula Patton) a hooker trying to go clean, Brian (Michael Pena) an overworked detective working a (Insert: crime) case and is no where near sloving it soon and Lenny (Antony Mackie) a struggling rap-artist/producer.
Since all these guys confess and confide in Will Smith, he learns that their random stories are actually interconnected and in the process Will learns more about himself and understands his relationship with his dad a lot better...Um, do I get the job :D

btw I'm loving the pics and hope this will be better than the second movie.

Will should go and work for HBO or AMC for a while. I still think he would have made a kick-ass Django at the helm of Tarantino. Oh well...

Somehow my last thing got deleted but basically... The dude needs to learn lessons from the projects he's turned down which got made with other actors and are well-respected and profitable.

Basically any movie that Denzel Washington has made in the past ten years. I wish Denzel would make bigger movies and I wish Will Smith would make better ones. Oh well.
