As many of you might have expected the Thundercats movie is not moving forward. At least according to a few reliable sources from Collider.

There's not much information beyond that, but maybe it's for the best. I know there's a lot of Thunderfans out there that were hoping to see a new take on Lion-O. However, this is a rumor until we get an official confirmation from the WB. So you could still hold out hope for an epic CGI battle with Mumm-Ra.

Originally, Jerry O’Flaherty was going to direct the film. He was excited to take the step outside the gaming world into the one of film, “It feels like a natural thing for me to step into. Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the video game experience.” The concept would have been similar to the origin story from the original pilot titled "Exodus". Basically the focus is on Lion-O becoming the leader of the Thundercats then later taking on Mumm-Ra.

I'm not too broken up about this one if it is true. The only thing that bothers me is that idiot concepts based on board games and toys can be made into movies before a memorable cartoon from the 80's. Then again, I may not want to get too preachy. I wanted INSPECTOR GADGET and got disappointment instead.

ho ya
This is great news considering it was not in good hands at all. I like the idea of filmed in the style of avatar, unfortunately there is only one James Cameron, the majority of directors would fuck it up big time..

It's way more important to make a live action Masters of the Universe movie.

After seeing Avatar, I think a Thundercats movie is very plausible, and possibly exciting, if the creators decided to use the same technology.

My only reply to that is, why not? If you can do something more with it then why the hell not. I only worry that either way it might come off corny to a certain degree.

Why would the Avatar approach even be necessary? What about Thundercats couldn't be achieved through actual actors and make-up? There isn't anything overly complex about them.

See that's what I was thinking. If you want to do a Thundercats project, the way of AVATAR is the only path to take. They'd have to get a bigger team behind it though.
