TMNT concept art reveals better look at Splinter and Shredder

06.02.2014by:

In a little over two months the live-action TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES will hit the big screen for the first time in over 20 years. We have seen a trailer and some new action figures that still leave something to the imagination. If you don't feel we have seen enough of some of these characters, namely Splinter and Shredder, to make a sound decision on whether we accept them or not we might have something to help.

Idle Hands has posted images from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History," which shows concept art for the new big screen versions of Shredder and Master Splinter.

Check them out:

I'm digging the look of Shredder; and in the great words of Michelangelo "I bet it never has to look for a can-opener". Splinter looks great, but if you remember from the few seconds we have seen him in the trailer, I don’t think he ended up this tall.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES stars Megan Fox, Pete Ploszek, Johnny Knoxville, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, Tony Shalhoub, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, and Whoopi Goldberg. It hits theaters on August 8th, 2014.

What do you guys think of the concepts?

Sooooo Shedder is a Transformer? WTF?

I liked TMNT growing up, but I'm not a die hard fan. I do pay attention to how Michael Bay continues to wreck movie making, as well as disappointing both fans and audiences.
Why the hell, are movies left and right continuing to rip off Transformers? In looks, sounds, and in even the directing of action scenes. Battleship, The Avengers, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and so on.
It's not like Michael Bay designed the costume himself, cause this would require actual movie making work.

If only the titular turtles could look this decent and forgiving.

I mean at least they look better than the turtles. And that's not really saying much.

Splinter looks awesome

Splinter is the most impressive character Ive seen for the movie so far. Shredder seems very immobile. I know he looks a little different in the trailor, so hopefully thats a good thing. I know everyone else loves bashing the turtles new design, but I think they look cool. I'm excited for this. Whether its cheesy, or super serious, I just love to see the Turtles on the big screen again.

Although all the designs are interesting to look at but for me personally none of them have the heart to them like the first movie did. The cartoon and the first ninja turtle movie had the ultimate turtle representation because the turtles design was a great combination of cute, funny, sweet, awesome and bad ass. Here they are just simply going for bad ass which is cool and all but it sacrifices the heart which is a big part of what the turtles are. But, I haven't seen the movie yet so I'm not

Hmm...

I agree, how the hell is Shredder going to fight the turtles with all of that on? I fear that we're going to get CGI Shredder fighting CGI turtles, SMH.

Splinter looks cool alright but Shredder reminds me of Silver Samurai. Probably too much silver-y going on.

Splinter is cool, but Shredder is too much. The armor looks entirely too heavy for anyone to be a effective fighter. I have no choice but to wait and see.
