Tom Cruise ups the ante in new trailer for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

06.04.2015

Director Christopher McQuarrie's jaunt into the M:I franchise looks alive and well if you're judging by this latest trailer for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION, which got a nice little bump into the summer movie season, giving us at least one more film we can count on for an entertaining popcorn flick. Once again starring Tom Cruise as super IMF agent Ethan Hunt, he's joined by some old faves, including Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner, but some new additons, including Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, and Sean Harris (as the main bad). After two trailers and a peek at some scenes at Cinemacon this year, I couldn't have more faith that this will be yet another excellent entry in the series. Let's see if the new trailer does the same for you...

"Open the door!"

Having been a fan of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series since the 1996 original, it's a damn pleasure to see them still being churned out and stepping up in quality at the same time. That's not always the case, but sometimes a series simply gets better with time and age, much like our favorite IMF agent, Ethan Hunt. Cruise is certainly starting to show his years, but you'd never know it from his relentless energy, commitment, and downright awe-inspiring stunt work that's put into this franchise. I'm happy to see him continue with these well into his twilight years at this rate.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION opens on July 31, 2015.

Abort mission...Never!

I love this series, it hits all the right notes. And nobody does it better than Cruise.

One of the few franchises that gets better with each new entry (in my opinion). I like the old school feeling and vibe that this one seems to be giving off.

Anyway, this and Jurassic World can't come out soon enough.

Mission Impossible 2 is actually my personal favorite of the franchise even though I think Ghost Protocol is the best one of the four.

Looks like more classic MI fun. Have really enjoyed the franchise with every take. Hopefully we see Renner get more action scenes rather than telling Cruise whats coming.

Can't wait

I love the M:I movies. This looks just as good as the others if not better. Glad to see Ving Rhames back.

That just up the Bungee Jump in The Dam scene from 007 Goldeneye to another level. Tom Cruise sure put everything on the line in all of his movies.

looks nice

At least, now, it's a team movie. The first two were more Mission: Tom Cruise... And bad M:I film as well...
M:I2 was plain bad because the John Woo style and M:I style didn't mix well, and M:I1 was an INSULT to any M:I fan, making Jim Phelps the villain... They had a chance to change that by making it a code name so it wouldn't be THE Jim Phelps, but they didn't...
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, M:I 3 was the first real M:I film, period !

Like it. But is it just my Impression or is Jeremy Renner just standing around and talking? To screens, on phones...Well, at least they got a badass chick to share some action scenes with Tom.

This definitely feels like an end game storyline. I think they know that Jeremy Renner can't maintain the franchise on his own and the degree of silliness to their missions has gone into satirical territory. It'll be awesome but I think it could and should conclude the series, by winkingly acknowledging its utter lack of logic.

Too much humor

Agree with Halofett
I miss the serious tone of the firsts installments of the franchise. Now, it looks like a buddy movie...
But still, I am very impatiant to see it cause I love Cruise !

Love this series, can't wait!

Still, I can't believe that M:I-2 was the only entry in this franchise where the IMF didn't go rogue...

In M:I-3, after Cruise escapes from the CIA (or agency building) he goes rogue to save his kidnapped wife. Jonathan Rhys-Myers, Ving Rhames, and Maggie Q all join him.

Something about the new MI's isn't doing it for me. They keep adding more humor and shenanigans, which people seem to like, but I guess I'm just turning into an old curmudgeon.
