Tom Hanks directs himself and Julia Roberts

Tom Hanks is getting back together with Julia Roberts, reuniting with her terrifying chompers after sharing the screen in the underappreciated CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the duo will star in LARRY CROWNE, which Hanks also wrote. And will direct. And produce through his Playtone label. And probably whip up a bit of catering. Because he’s a nice guy. Just some sliced fruit, maybe some spray cheese and Triscuits. Keep things casual.

The story is a comedy about “a man forced to reinvent himself and find a new career as he navigates the second act of his life.” The third act is where he has to steal a high-tech weaponized prototype motorcycle and defeat the cabal of genetically enhanced superninjas, but we won’t get to see that. Just the second act.

Hanks hasn’t directed a feature since THAT THING YOU DO! (also underappreciated), although he did get behind the camera for episodes of the HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” and “From the Earth to the Moon”.
