Tony Jaa in talks to join Fast and Furious 7

Aug. 23, 2013by: Niki Stephens

Tony Jaa is in talks to make his English language film debut in FAST AND FURIOUS 7.

Most of you are familiar with Jaa from the ONG BAK series. If all goes well the Thai action star will join Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in the next installment. Will be a part of Diesel's team, or be added on as a villain alongside Jason Statham? The role was not disclosed but Jaa did make a comment on the news:

"I have been a big fan of the Fast and Furious franchise. The films are fast paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first U.S. studio production."

Jaa was asked if he was ready to go head to head with both Diesel and Johnson, and the ultimate question: who would win?

"Having a chance to work with Vin Diesel and The Rock already makes me a winner."

Series regular Chris Morgan is still writing the script with James Wan set to direct. FAST AND FURIOUS 7 will begin shooting in September with a release on July 11, 2014.

Rather see him in Expendables 3, either way I am glad he is boosting his career. Love his films.

Huge supporter of him. I would love to see him go up against Jet Li (possibly in an Expendables sequel) but I'll take any Tony Jaa movie he gets. Who knows, maybe working with Statham will lead to Expendables if they make a 4th one

Hell yes.

Excellent news. I'm excited to know Jaa is deciding to get back in the movie action, and it's the perfect springboard for his American debut.

Hope this guy kicks Vin Diesel and Jason Statham's but... at the same time.

That I would pay to see.

this guy is a major talent, but i worry about his crackpot antics slowing down production. but considering the speed with which they are turning this movie out, maybe thats a good thing.

That would be neat, particularly after Joe Taslim was in Fast 6.

Didn't he go crazy and disappear and become a monk or something? Or am I completely making that up? If this is true this will be awesome! Bring on the flying knees!!

Just because he left film making to go be a monk does not mean he went crazy. It is actually part of the culture over there for young men to take a few months off from their lives and dedicate themselves to the Buddha. Most people just don't do it during the peak of their career as an International action star.

Every Thai male at the age of 20 (might be older or younger, pretty sure it's 20) has to go to a government office and pull a card if it's black you study with monks or take schooling if it's red you do 2 years in the army, 1 out of 4 black cards are red.

Petey, I didn't mean that he went crazy because he left to become a monk. I was referring to him walking off set on one of the Ong-Bak sequels in the middle of filming and disappearing for a time.

Needs more Iko Uwais. Or better yet, Yayan 'Mad Dog' Ruhiyan. Joe Taslim was awesome in Fast 6, more The Raid alumni should join the fray.
