Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Sep. 22, 2009

This is not a leftover poster from the FUNNY PEOPLE viral campaign. Though it seems to have a lot in common with some of George Simmons' worst films like MERMAN, RE-DO, ASTRO-NOT and CODE GREEN (which actually co-starred The Rock), TOOTH FAIRY is an actual film that will be released this January. It stars some genuinely talented people like Dwayne Johnson, Julie Andrews and Billy Crystal and follows a hockey player who is ordered to serve as the Tooth Fairy for a week. (And to think in "Seinfeld" it was supposed to be ridiculous when the failed NBC pilot followed a man ordered to serve as another man's butler.) "The Tooth Hurts" indeed. Check out the poster below.

Extra Tidbit: Doesn't the look of Johnson's character on this poster remind you of Matt Damon and/or Ben Affleck from DOGMA?

Rock Johnson Rules!
This guy doesn't like being pigeonholed, and good for him. He obviously loves comedies, witness his upcoming one with Will Ferrell. But I too hope he'll return to serious action flicks as well -- that is, if the studios are offering him any that are good.

The Rock COULD have been the next action star. Leaving the business that hailed him as 'the most electrifying entity in sports-entertainment' for Hollywood is one thing, but leaving a platform where he was THE ROCK just to play a bunch of characters that have no residual life after the cinema screenings is just beyond dumb. I understand if the man loves acting and wanted a challenge because he...

If you wanna see an ex-wrestler become the next big action badass, keep an eye on Steve Austin. That guy's violent, gritty, and one tough sonoffabitch.

I realize that the concept is old and supposedly innocent, but I wish I lived in a world where the idea of a grown man with wings sneaking into strangers' homes to take discarded body parts of children wasn't just... creepy.

Wow. What happened to The Rock being the next Schwarzenegger? He just cranks out one mediocre-at-best kiddy movie after another. He was on the right track earlier in his film career, but what the fuck is he thinking now? Where have all the awesome action stars gone?

One day I thought the return of the old school action star was upon us. Vin Diesel and The Rock were incredibly promising but now they're just douches.

I think I rather see Re-Do.

And why doesn't he do more villain type roles he definitely could pull it off.

Maybe this would be good if within the first 5 minutes of the movie, we could have a swarm of tooth fairies from Hellboy2 fly in and devour The Rock.

It'd be a short movie, but I'd pay to see that.

So much potential
I feel like the Rock is just wasting his potential. When The Rundown came out I was pretty excited because it seemed like The Rock would be the next big action star. Then he never really did anything that was as good as the Rundown. Now he is doing all of these stupid kiddy movies. Its a shame because the man is in his prime right now, he should be doing as many bad ass action films as he can....

The poster looks like he's back in the wrestling game.

This is sad. I thought a new old fashioned action star was born after seeing him in "the rundown" and "walking tall". But he sure likes his kids movies...

Not that he was any sort of buzzed about actor to begin with, but I'm thoroughly convinced The Rock is trying to make a big joke out of his career. Like one day he's just gonna turn to the camera during one of his Disney crapfests and be like "Ahh got ya! Did I fool ya? All right, I'm gonna back to wrestling now."
