Toy 3's Rex poster

I know that movie is still almost a year away, but what can I say, I'm a big kid and I like my Toy Story movies! And the hype is just getting started it seems, 'cause on Monday...Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself.

First, the good folks of Collider spotted a MySpace posting about the first in probably many character posters for TOY STORY 3, this one about Rex voiced by the hilarious Wallace Shawn. Here it is right down there in all it's glory. The film goes into theaters June 18 2010.

Oh right! Monday! That same MySpace spot promises quite a Canadian-Thanksgiving treat for October 12: they'll be premiering the new trailer for the film at 9am PT/12pm ET. If you can't wait till then, there's a leaked camcorder (ergo crappy) version right now on YouTube - catch it before the Mouse's Lawyers spring into action!!!

Alright, here's that poster down there, and see you guys on Monday!

  3-Rex! hehe...ok, I'm tired so I make bad jokes...

Extra Tidbit: So who's voicing Slinky Dog in place of the late great Jim Varney? John Lasseter hinted at someone who can do a great Varney impression, but I haven't heard anything recently...

Varvey Replacement

Lasseter said a while ago in an interview that they actually found a longtime childhood friend of Varney that sounds incredibly like him and they have hired him to do the voice of slinky dog. I am searching to find that interview, but that was straight from Lasseter's mouth so it should be great. Based on the trailer, the voices sound identical.

However, I agree with the_jer's statement that Blake Clark would be a perfect fit.

I think that a perfect Jim Varney replacement would be Blake Clark. For those of you who don't know him by name, he was Farmer Fran in The Waterboy, and he was also in Little Nicky and 50 First Dates, Home Improvement, and several other supporting roles over the years.

Totally agree. Sounds just like him. Wasn't he also Shawn Hunter's dad on Boy Meets World (Don't judge me!)

Extra Tidbit

Just had the Jim Varney discussion with my friend yesterday. He should be easy to replace cause its animated, but sad none-the-less. RIP Ernest. Now who will save Christmas and Halloween (Halloween is the tripiest Ernest flick)?

I know it isn't, but that poster looks photoshoped for some reason.

I totally agree. Halloween is fucked this year.

I'll always remember watching that particular Ernest movie at a friend's house when I was young. I'm still haunted by the scene where someone looks under the bed for a troll, and when they lift their head back up again the troll is lying next to them.

That was the first time I'd seen that trick before, so it scared the crap out of me.
