Trailer for Cabin Fever remake is pretty much the Cabin Fever you remember

01.29.2016

It's not every day that a filmmaker gives their blessing for someone else to remake one of their films not too long after they oriignally made it. Then again, Eli Roth is hardly your average filmmaker, but he has been on-board with a remake of his CABIN FEVER since the beginning, serving as an executive producer on the redo from Travis Z.

Working off essentially the same script as Roth's 2002 original, it'll be interesting to see how Z makes this new version of CABIN FEVER his own. However, from the looks of the trailer IFC Midnight has put forth today, it doesn't appear as if he's straying too far from the greatest hits of the original.

CABIN FEVER can be found in limited release (New York and Los Angeles) and on Digital HD on February 12.

So remakes of movies that are only a decade or so old. That's just sad. Is it really that hard to come up with something else?

This sucks!

Sorry Eli, but I just watched the trailer, and this movie is gonna suck! The original had a bit of dark humour to it but this isn't right.
And why is this movie being re-made? It's not like it's 30 or 40 years old!

Its like the robot from South Parks......

that just keeps pooping out shit Adam Sandler movie ideas. Peoples memories and, attention spands are that of a goldfish nowadays. I wish Robert Englund would just take up the mantle of Freddy again, and make a scary Nightmare movie again. Hell, in the beginning of the movie he pops up in Jackie Earl Haleys movie and kills him and says a witty one liner about reboots or the originals. Directors need to learn that gore doesn't necessarily mean scary. Suspense, what you can't see is sometimes

Cabin Fever so not in need of a reboot.

Jesus. I thought a Point Break remake was too soon! We're remaking things from 2000s now!?

I lost whatever respect I had for Eli Roth when this project was announced. I was never a huge fan, but I respected him at one time for telling original stories in an era of horror where the major films mostly consist of remakes, reboots and found footage crap. But by not only allowing this but becoming an active part of the production, he is now a part of the problem with today's horror genre.

Zero interest. I'm all for horror, don't get me wrong but re-making a film that hardly broke the box office makes no sense and it just looks like another horror movie where there's no hope for anyone to survive so there'll be no investment in the characters at all.

I just don't get the point

I guess it's for money? But I can't imagine it making that much.
