Back in January I saw maybe 10 minutes from the upcoming DreamWorks animated superhero movie MEGAMIND (this is the one that was originally MASTERMIND and then OOBERMIND). It stars Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt in the story of a villain who accidentally kills his nemesis. The animation was very rough so I didn't write much about it at the time but I'll say I left feeling a little bit...skeptical. Yeah....

The first teaser trailer for the film is online and wisely focuses much of its attention on Will Ferrell's Megamind character. He's the one who accidentally kills Brad Pitt's Metro Man and is forced to create a new hero (voiced by Jonah Hill) to do battle with. I'll say politely that I'm not really a fan of what I'm seeing here and leave it at that. Check it out below and let me know what you think. MASTERMIND hits theaters this November.

Extra Tidbit: Ferrell basically sounds like he's doing Mugatu from ZOOLANDER.

Despicable Me without any conceivable charm. Dreamworks never cease to find more barrel to scrape the bottom of.

Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh
cccrrraaaaaapppp!

So far, DreamWorks Animation is looking like it's 1 for 3. How to Train Your Dragon could be good, Shrek 4 looks like crap, and as for Megamind, I quote the trailer: "You're kidding, right?"

Dreamworks comes up with some pretty good story ideas but the movies are always just meh.

This seems like just the kind of role I love Will Ferrell in. Hopefully the fact that RDJ and Ben Stiller were involved at all is a good sign. Looks better than Despicable Me.

Only if Brad Bird is involved and has the right story in mind. I would rather not see a sequel produced by someone else, though with Pixar, that "someone else" could probably do a good job. Still, I would hope Bird could at least develop the story and serve as producer. He doesn't appear ready for that right now.

Looks very okay.
I saw this film as something special when Stiller and Downey Jr. were involved, but now it just seems boring. I still hope for the best, Dreamworks is usually great at making great stories until they introduce countless sequels.

I think the plot is a little bit better than previous Dreamworks efforts. Since this was a teaser and showed very little (if anything) of the movie, I'll wait until an actual trailer gets released before deciding.

The trailer or teaser was average, but I love animated flicks and I am a big fan of the cast. I can't wait to see what Brad Pitt's looks and sounds like. Dude can do comedy well, i.e. Burn After Reading. Also does anyone else think Ferrell sounds like Rainn Wilson from Monsters vs Aliens?

I HATED Brad Pitt in Burn After Reading. He was one of the main reasons I didn't like that film, which is rare because I usually enjoy anything Joel and Ethan Coen produces. Sure, he was funny, but his character seemed forced. I never once felt I was watching a character on screen; it always felt like Brad Pitt playing stupid. Sure, he was funny, but his character seemed forced. I never once felt I was watching a character on screen; it always felt like Brad Pitt playing stupid. It was like I could just see every effort he put in the character. It didn't feel natural. I felt the same way watching !2 Monkeys. It seems every time he tries to play a quirky character, he always overplays it and exaggerates everything. He is far better in dramatic roles.

Of course, this is just my opinion. A whole lot of people disagree with me.
