After an incredibly long break, the first episode of the third series of Sherlock finally aired last night on BBC (Huzzah!), and it was the most watched episode yet for the hit series. BBC has released a trailer for the next episode ("The Sign of Three"), and although it's short, it does give us a glimpse at the big event in the new episode: John Watson's wedding. Just an FYI, it doesn't reveal anything from the last episode, so you don't have to worry about spoilers while watching this trailer.

"Let's play murder!"

Two new featurettes have also been released for Sherlock. One has the cast and crew talking about the new series, and the other is about the second series finale, "The Reichenbach Fall." But if you haven't seen the last series of Sherlock, you'll probably want to avoid the second featurette.

"The Sign of Three" will air in the UK on January 5th, and the third series will start airing on PBS on January 19th.

I thought the episode was great. The focus wasn't on a particular case (although it seems to have set-up that there's something bigger at play coming up in the future) but moreso Sherlock and John's relationship and his relationship with Molly. This episode seemed to humanize Sherlock a bit more for us which I thought was great. The writing was excellent, the acting superb...I'm really going to miss this show when it finally ends.

The Empty Hearse

While not the strongest episode, it was still very entertaining and played more to the humorous aspects of the show than actual detective work. I must say Sherlock's reveal to Watson was inspired and hilarious.

Avoiding all spoilers I'd say the new episode wasn't the best with regards to Sherlock's trademark genius detective work, but was a very amusing episode - loads of fun moments. I enjoyed it a lot, but it was better for laughs than the actual plot.
