Transformers 2 is long

I’ve noticed that there’s not as much excitement surrounding this summer’s TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, as there was for the film’s predecessor a few summers back. Perhaps it’s because we’re no longer anticipating the robots as we once were. It’s like: been there done that. Maybe it’s because a lot of us didn’t really care for TRANSFORMERS in the first place, and so why should we care about another one? Truth be told, the thing I’m most looking forward to, is more of Michael Bay’s fetishization of Megan Fox’s midriff; one of the few things he’s done right over the course of his career.

Still, the most self-indulgent director in Hollywood is intent on giving us more than we can chew with this sequel and has announced a runtime of 147 minutes; four minutes longer than the original. When asked by MTV about the studio’s reaction, Bay repiled:

I don’t ever talk (to executives) about run times. Studios always ask, ‘What’s the run time?’ And I’m like ‘If you enjoy the movie, do you care?

I guess the man has a point. With all of his chest-beating and robe-wearing aside, the man does have a point. You can catch TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN on June 24th, 2009.
