Transformers 3 NOT 3-D

04.03.2009

At the final night award ceremony at ShoWest, Michael Bay kept the press waiting and waiting, long after the stars of SORORITY ROW, Dennis Quaid and Chris Pine had come and gone. But once he finally arrived, Bay didn't waste any time speaking his mind. Though a running theme of this year's ShoWest was 3D technology, Bay called 3D a "gimmick" and a "fad.". When asked about the rumor that TRANSFORMERS 3 would be in 3D, he answered flatly and definitively, "No." Bay stopped short of confirming that he'll definitely direct TF3 but said that he did speak to Paramount about the previously announced release date and said that they've resolved the issue (Paramount wants 2011, he said that he'd only do it if it were 2012). For more from ShoWest, check back soon or head to the JoBlo.com Twitter page where I posted some random updates from the night's festivities!

Hopefully Transformers 4 will be in 4-D. That'll be really great.

Oh and Megan Fox always looks like she's in 3-D anyway.

None of you dumbas's can't see the appeal of 3-d because none of you have seen the latest technology driving it. Real-D is awesome, and James Camerons Avatar will make you guys feel stupid for actually taking advice from Michael Bay of all people in hollywood.

i don't like the 3-d ideas either. I never liked 3-d movies, and he's right, it is a "gimmick" and a "fad."

i agree with whomever said its only real, worthwhile, long term use SHOULD be animated movies, because animated movies in 3d are pretty great (... That is, unless zemekis and his stretch armstrong characters are involved)

Thank god (also). 3D sucks.. at least for big blockbusters like that. Now stay with film (and don't switch to digital 100%) and you still will be one of the best visual directors out there.

Thank God. 3D works best on animated movies and just gives you a headache on live action ones. Seeing Megan Fox in 3D would be amazing though.

In a time where everyone and their grandma seems to be creaming their pants over "revolutionary" 3D technology, it's nice to hear someone call it as it is: a fucking gimmick.

Right on, Michael!

I agree. As much as people want to accept that this is the age of 3D movies, it truly is just a gimmick to sell movies. 3D does nothing but help the movies "seem" cooler. Let's just enjoy movies for what they are...moving pictures on a flat surface.

Good

I live in the Dominican Republic and we don't have 3D theaters.. Movies that are made for 3D theaters don't look good in regular ones... so Good... I think it's a good choice.
