GM yesterday revealed looks at four new cars featured in TRANSFORMERS at the "ten" pre-Oscar party. Says Mike Jackson, GM North America vice president, marketing and advertising of the partnership between Paramount's TRANSFORMERS and GM's vehicles: “It represents the perfect intersection of entertainment, marketing and design.” It's interesting that all of the GM cars are Autobots. Did they not want to be associated with the planned destruction of planet Earth? Check out the photos, with captions, below.

“Bumblebee” changes from the classic Chevrolet Camaro.

“Autobot Jazz” converts from a Pontiac Solstice in a hardtop format.

A Hummer H2, modified as a rescue vehicle, changes into “Autobot Ratchet."

“Ironhide” changes from a GMC TopKick medium-duty truck.

A regular General Motors Love Fest.
God, I hope they diversify.

The next-gen Camero is bad ass. But a Pontiac??? Whatever. GM must have invested a small fortune.

Why not keep....
Why not keep Ratchet as an ambulance and make Ironhide the H2, as he was simply a big red van in the cartoon, it would be a more natural transition. It is kinda weird to see Bumblebee as a sports car, and Jazz not as a Porsche.

As for the question in the article, why the cars are all Autobots.... its because the bulk of the Decepticons were planes, weapons and things of that...

As for the question in the article, why the cars are all Autobots.... its because the bulk of the Decepticons were planes, weapons and things of that nature. There were very few actual cars in the Decepticon universe, and none of them were the well known ones, while a good 75% or more of the Autobots were cars of some variety.

why?
I hate that Bumblebee is going to be a Camaro. And I HATE [to the tenth power] that Jazz will be ANYTHING but a Porsche. Of course, without the voice of Scatman Crothers, Jazz won't be Jazz anyway; so I guess they might as well make him a... Solstice (spoken with disgust and complete disdain dripping heavily off the word.)

It's very strange, the conflict of such strongly felt emotions I'm feeling over this movie -- tremendous excitement and complete frustration.

Nice....
I'm glad they didn't make Bumblebee a new bug. Overall, I'm very pleased with the adaptations of the characters to make it current. Hatchet as a Hummer - awesome.
