Transport back to 13th century China in the trailer for Netflix’s Marco Polo

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For those of you keen on your history shows, or just Netflix in general, the latest and greatest preview for Marco Polo is here to give you a sense of the scale they're shooting for with this series. The show looks to cover the explorer’s adventures in Kublai Khan’s court in 13th century China. Oh yes, it also features a naked woman sword fighting. Sign me up!

Directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (the upcoming PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES) directed the first two hours of the series (and serve as executive producers). While this trailer didn't exactly blow me away, I think the great draw with Netflix series is that you have access to the entirety of a season at once. If anything, that's a great incentive to give a few episodes a shot and see if it sticks. Brilliant marketing strategy on their part!

Marco Polo's 10 episode series will hit Netflix on December 12.
