Trouble with Hulk?

03.11.2008

Johnny Depp Deadline Hollywood Daily's Nikki Finke is reporting that notoriously tempestuous actor Ed Norton is currently butting heads with Marvel over the final cut of the upcoming not-so-jolly green giant reboot THE INCREDIBLE HULK. Norton already exerts a healthy amount of creative control on the film, not only as star but having written the script and being a producer. However, Marvel is now apparently attempting to take him out of the loop. Despite this, one of Finke's sources phrases it this way: "There is a very healthy exchange of ideas going on. Discussions now are even more heated. But some of Ed's best movies have had this exact dynamic to them. Everyone's in the process of figuring it out and working it out. But I expect it'll all get resolved pretty quickly." Let's just hope the end result is good. Read the rest of Finke's report HERE. The green goliath goes at it with Abomination on June 13th.

Leave him to it

With the filmography Leterrier has, I think Norton should absolutely be involved. Hell, let him direct the next one if this one is successful enough too. Let it be his baby when it comes to blockbusters.

Did anyone ever dream of having actors of Norton and Downey Jr's ability playing these iconic characters? If they want to be hands on, then let em!!

This is gonna sound cliché, but...

I could genuinely see the dedication in his eyes when he announced at last year's Comic-Con that he was going to be writing TIH, and almost seemed overwhelmed with gratitude when the fans (including myself) damn-near gave a standing ovation at that announcement.

So even though I still don't like the tantrum he threw with Paramount on The Italian Job, I'm with everyone else here; it's best Marvel just let Norton sail this ship.

Chris Rock was right when he recently said that you could hand the script for "Citizen Kane" to today's suits and their first instinct would be, "How can I fuck this up?"

I'm with Ed on this

Seeing as how whenever Norton's exerted control like this, the result has been good to great, Marvel should butt out.

While I understand the frustration Ed usually brings filmmakers, I can't help but to be on his side, since every time the man intervenes the movie is great. Case in point, American History X.

Save the hulk

Please! don't let stuff like this ruin the new film, It's very promising and if Marvel is more concerned about their characters fanbase, then they should just let Ed do what he was already allowed to do with the film in the first place, this is, I think, their last chance to save the Hulk franchise so they better not screw this up.

It's Norton, let him piss all over this if he wants to

maybe they should dust off his resume, cause he knows exactly what he's doing.
there might even be best actor oscar nomination out of it too...who knows...
