True Detective season 3 gets greenlight with Green Room director on board!

Like most of the planet, I am a huge fan of HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE… season one. Season two was a major disappointment. Sure, it had its moments, but overall the season was lackluster at best, melodramatic bullsh*t at worst.

Anyhow, being the second season was such a disappointment, it seemed for a while there that HBO wasn't going to renew the series for a third season. However, tonight we have confirmation that not only has HBO greenlit TRUE DETECTIVE S3, but the series has an all-new director.

Turns out GREEN ROOM helmer, Jeremy Saulnier will be taking on the directing duties this time around, with series writer Nic Pizzolatto set to make his directing debut in there somewhere. 

While we still do not know just how many episodes season three will run (the first two ran for 8-episodes a piece), we do know that 5 episodes have been written thus far and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will play the lead role of Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.
