Update: Try to Keep Up With The Flash In the series' extended trailer!

May. 15, 2014by: Graham McMorrow

UPDATE: Added the Extended Five-Minute Trailer! Check it out below!

The highly anticipated TV series THE FLASH has a pretty fun teaser to keep the fast action hero on people's minds before his fall premiere. The CGI, though quick here, still looks pretty great if I do say so. Fans should be happy to see The Flash with his own series as it's been said he was going to be added as series regular on Arrow as opposed to having his own show.

All's well that ends well:

Grant Gustin, best known for TV work on Glee and 90210 is playing Barry Allen/Flash this time around. I must say, this is big step forward from the last time The Flash had his own TV series, then starring John Wesley Shipp in the titular role.  He will actually be involved in the new series in unspecified role.

Check out the first teaser:

And here's the extended trailer:

The DC superhero series will also star Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order), Danielle Panabaker (Shark), Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries), Candice Patton (The Game), Tom Cavanagh (Ed), Carlos Valdes, guest star Patrick Sabongui, and recurring star Michelle Harrison (Emily Owens, MD).

The Flash will air this fall on CW.

This has the feel of Arrow to it but with its own flare...

If This is even close to how Arrow is then I'm game it has a great feel to it and you can feel the intensity. And for those whining about the costume, who cares? It's a tv show not a Multi million dollar feature film, personally I think it's fine and I like the mask a good bit. Just enjoy the flash finally having his own thing to grow on I know I will.

This actually looks very promising. I'm not familiar with The Flash's villains. Is that guy who control the weather in the trailer Captain Cold?

Hmmm......that costume.....

I don't care how many "thumbs down" I get for saying this, but THE ORIGINAL JOHN WESELY SHIPP COSTUME IS FAAAAAAAAR SUPERIOR!!! That show was over twenty years ago and yet they gave us an awesome Flash suit that, in my opinion, will probably never be equaled. Even Smallville's version of the flash costume was better looking and it was a hoodie. The show looks great other than that, and my favorite part is that it seems to stray away from the "teen drama" that tends to be the focal point of most

I totally agree with you about the suits. Then again JWS was ripped... Maybe the actor's body and the suit will evolve during the show.

I was really hoping for a movie but this looks fun and I'll give it a shot. I'm glad they addressed that he's not just a guy that moves really fast, but instead the world actually moves really slow to him, I hope the character has a short attention span and is a little ADD b/c of this. Hope we get to see him vibrate through some walls! I'm still torn on the suit, the overall look is great but I really don't like the leather look like Green Arrow. I know the teaser said it's made of materials composed of synthetic polymer molecules, but the leathery look just doesn't seem practical for the speedster.

Loved the extended trailer. Really good stuff. Grant Gustin looks to be another fantastic casting choice and couldn't help but love to see Stephen Amell pop up closing the circle from his appearances in Arrow.

This looks awesome. If it's half as great as Arrow, we are in for a really good time.

This show also makes me that much more excited to finally see the Flash in the Justice League film.

A few thoughts after seeing the extended trailer:

1. I feel like I just watched the entire pilot episode.

2. So Professor Zoom killed Barry's mom. Well there's the set up for the show's meta-arc.

3. Good to see S.T.A.R. Labs maintaining its company policy of only hiring young, sexy scientists.

4. Glad to see there's finally a Flash show with actual supervillains (because let's face it, the Ghost and the Trickster were really just weak).

5. Speaking of the old show, anyone else think John Wesley Shipp should have been cast in the

Looks like more of the same but hokier.

Regarding Arrow, I'm glad people who like it like it, I really am, but the type and level of praise it gets baffles me. I'm trying to give it a chance. I've only watched the first season, but, to me, this is a show I can only really watch when I'm sick on the couch or on a long plane ride...

I get where you are coming from. I am one of the minds that enjoys Arrow immensely. It is one of the few shows that is appointment television each week (Game of Thrones and Person of Interest are the only other shows I watch each week without fail). The first season dipped near the middle and the endgame mirrored so much of the plot for Batman Begins that it truly didn't seem original all that much. The first season dipped near the middle and the endgame mirrored so much of the plot for Batman Begins that it truly didn't seem original all that much. Laurel is the most one dimensional love interest you could find and she is the only thing that continues to grate me each week. But the second season really got off to a strong start and rarely fumbled. It shares many Smallville elements that I rarely cared for (villain of the week in the beginning of the season, a handful of filler episodes), but it takes itself much more seriously and is the better show because of that. Stephen Amell upped his game in the second season and the two personas he adapted (flashback Ollie and post-island Arrow) differ so much that it really is impressive how much his acting got better from season one. I'm not trying to convince anyone to watch a show they just can't get into, I'll just be the guy who enjoys the show and champions it for whenever a friend wants me to recommend a show to them.

And who am I to argue with with a Cards fan?

We Will See...

I'm always highly skeptical of anything the CW does. As a Smallville fan, I remember the good start that pulled me in, and the lack of inspiration that defined every season past 3 or 4. I don't doubt that the Flash could have a good 1st season, but have major doubts they can know when to call it quits before the jump the shark for half a decade.

Neat teaser - love his joyful reaction at catching the arrow - very much Wally West like from the Justice League Unlimited animated series. Given the way Barry came across in the Arrow episodes I'm guessing this is going to be more light hearted than Arrow and if that's the case, I don't think this will do well so I hope Im wrong. I did like his "joyful" character as I did with the Wally West character in the animated series but I don't think I could take that tone for a 22 episode series.

His accident in the Arrow episode was very well done and as I said, this teaser was neat - so I've got a lot of confidence in the people behind this...that it'll work.

Said it before, but The Flash series could live or die purely on the strength of how they portray his abilities. Seems like they have some cg crackles in his wake which is cool, but in many ways what they really need to avoid is high speed footage of him running - sounds weird to say that, but that's what'll look goofy on screen and get this thing canned.

Arrow is by far the best thing DC is doing live action wise and this looks like another step in the right direction. I know people are quick to hate on Arrow just because it's on the CW, but don't. You will be severely limiting yourself. Fantastic show with solid acting all around and incredible production value. The stunt/action pieces are amazing considering it's on a tiny TV budget.

Couldn't agree more. It is easily one of the best shows out there right now. hell, even Time magazine wrote a whole article on how good the show is. I just hope DC/WB gets what they have and connects it to the DCCU. It'd really be stupid not to at this point.

I hope Arrow won't fall into the same pit as Smallville. Smallville was great in Season 1-3. After Season 4, things started to go downhill.

If it was a network other than CW that was putting this together I'd be a lot more excited, maybe it'll turn out good but they'd have to cut out all the soap opera-y One Tree Hill crap but based on their core audience of 14 year old females, that seems very unlikely. That being said, I'm sure the first 3 or so episodes will be great with a few solid episodes mixed in once in awhile just like Arrow.

Really looking forward to this and seeing a new interpretation of Flash. The suit looks good and I thought Gustin had a likeable quality about him in the episodes he was in.

Considering this gets as popular and great in quality as Arrow has been consistently, I would not be surprised if DC considers bringing in these two versions of the characters into the Justice League film.

I mean, Stephen Amell deserves to be Green Arrow in the new film after kicking ass for two great seasons.
