Twilight Zone scribe

07.20.2009

It looks like Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way and Warner Bros. are one step closer to bringing their TWILIGHT ZONE movie to the big screen. Little known Rand Ravich--who directed THE ASTRONAUT'S WIFE--has been hired to write the screenplay for the long-gestating film based on the iconic sixties television show of the same name. Many may scratch their heads with the announcement of Ravich as the writer, but Leo DiCaprio has proven himself to be a man of particularly good taste, so we should all breathe easy. Now wether they decide to mimic the episodic nature of the original series remains to be seen. The previous bigscreen version of the show, 1983's TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, featured segments produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and John Landis, so perhaps this film will take a similar approach. What would you prefer?

How cool would it be to get 4 or 5 of the hottest directors out there to upgrade/re-write some old segments for a sequel? That would be TOO kick ass.

"It's a Cook Book"!

An update of the episode "To Serve Man" would be great. We all know how it ends but maybe the writers could give it a modern day twist.

John Landis is a Murderer.

mine is from the New Twilight Zone that was created in the 80's an episode called Gramma based on a Stephen King Short story...

Hopefully enough time has passed now that this will get greenlit and studios will forget what happened on set of the TZ movie.

My Favorite Show Of All Time...

...it'd be impossible to choose a favorite, but some of them have already been mentioned. I think a really intresting concept for the film could be about Rod Serling's character, the benevolent, seemingly omnipotent Narrator. It could be about his journey through the various parallel dimensions an shit...

I dunno, just a thought.

My absolute favorite is "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up." It's a great one if anyone looks into it. The one above is probably my second favorite.

Impossible to come up with a favorite but one of my favorites is the one with burgess meredith and he survives the apocalypse and hes all happy that he has time to read. Then his glasses break. I wish I could remember the name of that one. Anyways I can't wait for a Twilight Zone movie. I don't know if it will feel the same without Rod though. Everything they tried to do after he died didn't feel right. Part of the appeal was seeing him introduce and conclude each episode. I would also like to

Tough call

So many great, great episodes, and I've seen them so many times. I'd go with "It's a Good Life" or "Living Doll" (Talky Tina). Both are just pitch perfect throughout.

I've just bought the boxsets recently so I'm still going through them and don't have a favourite yet. But this news is good, I'd like to see another big screen adaption of a Twilight Zone story.

"Wanna see something really scary?"

Nothing can top that opening segment with Dan Akroyd in the 80's Twilight Zone The Movie. Scared the absolute shit out of me watching it home alone as a tyke!!

YAY!

I'm ecstatic that this is getting closer to be filmed. I read awhile ago that they were going to adapt one episode into a feature. Maybe that will change, I dunno.

Hmmm...

They better not mess this up. Twilight Zone has to be my all time favorite tv show. I'm pretty sure I've seen almost every episode (not the ones from the 80s though). Some of my favorites are "The Howling Man", "Midnight Sun", "Time Enough at Last", and "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up".
