Two NSFW images from Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac tease alleways and threesomes

Feb. 11, 2013by: Alex Maidy

Lars Von Trier is an acquired taste for any movie fan. His slow moving films used to be art house favorites like DANCER IN THE DARK and DOGVILLE and have since become explorations of depravity like ANTICHRIST and MELANCHOLIA. His latest film will be the appropriately titled NYMPHOMANIAC starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, Willem Dafoe, Uma Thurman, and Jamie Bell.

NYMPHOMANIAC will follow Joe (Gainsbourg), the titular self-proclaimed nymphomaniac. After she's been attacked and found beaten in an alley by Stellan Skarsgård's character, Joe recounts her lifetime of erotic experimentation and sexual exploration.

The film will feature real sex between the actors and will have an R-rated and uncensored version released. Two images have been released from the film, including the above shot of Charlotte Gainsbourg in an alleyway. Is this a post-rape scene or a melancholic moment with deeper metaphoric meaning? With Von Trier, both could be true. But, the second image release does not have as subtle a context.

Von Trier intrigues me but I find it difficult to watch his movies more than once. Enjoyment is not exactly the feeling one gets during a Lars Von Trier film, but I do respect him as a filmmaker. I will definitely be checking out NYMPHOMANIAC when it is released if anything to see how far he pushes the envelope of movies versus pornography.

NYMPHOMANIAC will open in Denmark on May 30th, 2013. Expect a US release date to follow later this year.

Regardless of weather this film is good or not...

I'm pretty much in support of anything that pushes the buttons of the dick-knobs that comprise the MPAA. This film is not yet rated really shows the insanity and hypocrisy of these so called "ordinary" people.

I dunno.

Gainsbourg is a fantastic actress, no doubt. I was a huge fan of Melancholia. It was beautifully filmed, well-acted, and had some important things to say about depression. It didn't need genital mutilation and shock value to be a damn good film. I just don't know about Von Tier's other stuff-sometimes it seems like he makes things solely for his own weird fixations. And honestly, are the actors going to acutally have sex with each other, or are they going to have "professional" stand-ins,

Could go either way. I really enjoy Triers work thus far. As far as the line between movies and pornography goes; is there really a line? Twilight is made to get tweeners wet and dropping some money under the guise of being pg-13 and hence safe for young womens (and some mens) fragile psyches. Everybody knows sex sells but hollywood hates to admit it and is scared shitless of sexual freedom, exploration and especially female orgasms for some reason.

I thought Trier's "Dogville" and "Manderlay" were pretty good; I still need to see some of his other films....including the one in the article that has yet to be released.

I wasn't really aware of Trier's presence until I saw Antichrist, and after seeing that, I was hooked. Though utterly disturbing, the film is beautiful and really portrays gender stereotypes in a very dark way that I found completely fascinating. Melancholia was a bit too cold for my taste. However, it was still a good film nonetheless. I look forward to Nymphomaniac and seeing how Lars will complete his "depression trilogy". What I am not looking forward to is Shia's role in all of this. I

Idk...

Just seems like they're using the actual sex angle to gain publicity and interest....and it's working, I am interested to see how it turns out.

Also Shia Laboof annoys me, wish he wasn't in this.

AntiChrist is a tough film to watch. Truly fucked up.
