Former "Lost" star Michelle Rodriguez and stage actor Stephen Lang have signed on to join the cast of James Cameron's upcoming AVATAR. Rodriguez will play an ex-Marine pilot on the planet of Pandora while Lang will play a Marine colonel sent to Pandora to take control of the troops there. The two join the already cast Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Wes Studi and CCH Pounder. Says Cameron of Rodriguez: "Michelle Rodriguez is someone I've wanted to work with since I saw 'Girlfight' seven years ago." As for Lang, he auditioned for ALIENS 20 years ago and came close to winning a part in that film and Cameron has been looking for a part for him ever since. He will finish his one-man Broadway show "Beyond Glory" on August 19th and then head off to work on AVATAR. Cameron and his team are currently working on the animation and pre-production before live-action work begins filming in New Zealand in October. AVATAR, which will be presented in a new digital 3-D format, will hit theaters on May 22, 2009.

Character Actor
Rodriguez has 1 character that she can portray. And she can't even do that well. She's also following in the latest hollywood girl trend to drink and drive but has none of the money/talent/looks to back up her "diva" actions. She's a bitch, I hope the movie flops.

Wow, Michelle Rodriguez playing a tough chick (Marine, no less).

What an amazing departure from everything else she has ever done EVER.

LIGHT 'EM'UP James !
Wow, this cast is turning in a very good way. In the past, Cameron showed us his skills: he knows excatly how to choose an actress. Michelle Rodriguez reminds me others Cameron's strong women: Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez in Aliens), and Linda Hamilton in T2.

I love Michelle Rodriguez and this looks like a project where all the cast will have a chance to shine on their own.

I just wish Michelle starts soon to stretch with her choices of roles though.

Wow. Stephen Lang. Haven't heard that name since that Michael J. Fox - James Woods action comedy from the 80's. It's name escapes me.

U usually hate Michelle Rodriguez but for some reason her and Cameron seem like a good pair. I dunno, maybe i'm dreaming of Vasques from Aliens all over again.
