Two new Drive posters showcase Ryan Gosling: Action Star

After seeing Ryan Gosling's ridiculously ripped self in CRAZY STUPID LOVE, the idea that the kid could turn out to be an action hero isn't that far fetched. Remember when we saw Matt Damon make the leap into the Bourne franchise? Damon? An action star? Get out of town. And we remember how that turned out.

Gosling's effort to do something similar is DRIVE, a film where he plays a stunt driver by day, and getaway man by night, and must kick some ass to protect his neighbor from criminal scum. The trailer was pretty damn amazing, and this isn't getting a whole lot of press, but it's cast boats Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Bryan Cranston, Oscar Isaac and Christina Hendricks in addition to Gosling and is out quite soon on September 16th.

Check out two new posters for the feature below which have a decidedly retro feel. One's in Spanish, but you get the idea. See them bigger at the Pimpin Poster Palace.

Isn't the tagline for the second poster the same as the one for No Country For Old Men?

The trailer was indeed pretty amazing, as is Gosling. I haven't seen "Bronson," but I have seen "Valhalla Rising," and after that I'd watch anything from Nicolas Winding Refn (this movie appears to have dialogue and a plot - bonus!)

Also that first poster is in Italian, not Spanish.

pusher

the pusher trilogy is one the best crime trilogies ever made. if you've not seen it do yourself a favor and seek these films out. mads give a great performance in both one and two. if you can only see one one of them definitely see the first as it's the best of the three. and agreed, valhalla rising is amazing.

can't wait to see this flick and the (hopefully) christina hendricks character poster.

all three flicks were directed by refn

I like Ryan Gosling, and he doesn't have to make any type of action face to make it a watchable action flick. Most action movie posters always have to pose the star with some mean face, and a chiseled jaw. I like these posters.

I wouldn't consider this an 'action hero' type role, although there is that element to this film. Similar in style to a movie like Out of Sight perhaps, also starring Albert Brooks.

I'm digging that 2nd poster especially.

Christina Hendricks

Yummy... Glad they chose wisely and put her in this flick. I mean, come on, Carey Mulligan is not eye candy. Christina Hendricks however is quite the mouthful.

The movie looks cool, but that first poster is terrible.

I DO however love the like 80s style 2nd poster. Especially the logo.
Oh and I'd take Carey Mulligan over Christina Hendricks any day.
