Two new X-Men are joining Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past
Bryan Singer continues his Twitter machine reveals today, sending out X-fans a nice tease about two X-men who will make their first live action appearance in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, namely Bishop and James "Warpath" Proudstar. Casting hasn't been announced for the two roles yet, but Singer has at least confirmed their existence, which will surely excite longtime X-fans who have been hoping to see an introduction of such favorites into the live-action realm.
Here's the Tweet:
Although not officially announced, there are two castmembers listed on imdb that could easily be attributed to these roles, that being Eric West or Omar Sy for Bishop and Booboo Stewart for Warpath. Although not confirmed they seem like pretty likely candidates.
Here's a little history on the characters:
Bishop was a member of Xavier's Security Enforcers (initially called the Xavier School Enforcers), a mutant police force from a dystopian future of the Marvel Universe. He traveled to the 20th century and joined the X-Men, a team he knew only as legends. A brash antihero, he had difficulty adjusting to the norms of the time period. After a decade and a half of acting as a member of the team, Bishop was instead portrayed as one of the X-Men's main antagonists.
An Apache Native American, Proudstar possesses mutant superhuman strength and speed, like his older brother, the short-lived X-Man Thunderbird, though Warpath's power-levels are much higher.
He originally blamed the X-Men for his brotherís death and joined the villain group the Hellions to get revenge. He later reconsidered his views and became a longtime member of the militant X-Men offshoot X-Force. After a long journey to the Shi'ar Empire with the Uncanny X-Men, Warpath became a member of the new incarnation of X-Force but he left after the events of Necrosha
This movie is definitely stacked, which is causing many to be concerned that there are far too many characters to be successful. However, the X-Men comics are always chock full of a steady rotation of characters, so it's at least consistent with the native medium.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, starring Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellan, Omar Sy,Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Paquin, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, and Eric West is slated for theaters on July 18, 2014.
