Two standalone Governor episodes for The Walking Dead season 4

The Walking Dead

Plenty of pictures and news about season four of THE WALKING DEAD have been released lately, but what many fans really want to know is what's going on with The Governor (David Morrissey). The character's disappearance at the end of the last season was brought up at Comic-Con and creator Robert Kirkman teased that his return will play a big part in the new season.

Mihael Ausiello from TV Line has learned that it's so big that apparently The Governor will have two standalone episodes in the fourth season. Here's what he said when a reader asked Ausillo how big of a role David Morrissey will have in the new season:

Well, I can tell you that he’ll have a major presence in at least two Season 4 episodes, both of which are being unofficially billed as ”standalone Governor” installments. No specific intel on when those episodes will air, but I hear they’ll likely fall in the first chunk of eight (premiering Sunday, Oct. 13).

You down for two episodes completely devoted to The Governor or is it too much?

I'd be more interested in this if it was the calm and calculating villain of the first half of last season than the rabid finger biting Yosemite Sam he became by the end

As cerealkiller said, I think The Governor was entirely played out. He started out as so devious, layered, and human...but by the end of the season he was Snidely Whiplash/Cobra Commander.

umm

not sure this is a good idea. if youre going to do a Gov story, it should be an origin...but if youre going to do that, you dont need two hours...and if youre going to do anyone's origin, start with Michonne!!!

Too Much

As a few others mentioned before me, perhaps if the character was written with any sense of consistency from episode to episode, then the fans would care more about his story. The writing on this show has steadily gotten worse and worse, to the point where several main characters make decisions that go completely against what they stood for previously. Andrea and the Governor are the 2 biggest examples of this that stand out.

They should've just killed the Governor off in the season 3

They should've just killed the Governor off in the season 3 finale. Of course, we would've needed to have an actual battle for that to happen, rather than the 5 minute anticlimactic scene we got. Season 4 looks great, based on the trailer. But having 2 whole episodes devoted to the Governor? Too much.

Very very interesting trailer. The knives part intrigues me from a specific moment in the graphic novel with the twins. There's bits and pieces they've taken but this really looks like a totally new chapter from anything the novel did.

Not sure about the two episodes solely for the Governor, but let's hope it's better than Andrea's end. The scene with the back tires getting stuck on a pile of dead zombies is disgusting goodness!

It sounds good to me. I think two episodes might be a bit much. One episode might be enough to get people excited about the return of the Governor. I know this show has received a lot of criticism about how they handled the story arc for season 3/Governor. But I for one liked what they did. They didn't necessarily end the Governor story line from the comics, they essentially brought it to a boil. I think what we'll see in Season 4 is the fall of the prison. The comic-con footage showed

The comic-con footage showed people having to leave the prison, so I think we'll see a final attack the leaves the prison vulnerable and the subsequent evacuation of the prison in the first 8 episodes. The second half will be about all of them trying to regroup/move on.

Meh

Well I just finished season 3, I know slow. But with the exception of a few "No they Didn't" moments it wasn't that fantastic, just more of the same. I really think with the introduction of the "Sanctuary" plot device they have jumped the shark. Why does every single Apocalypse show have to focus on the one mythical area they can go to be safe, its the freaking zombie Apocalypse there is no safe haven. The show was more interesting when it dealt with their decisions on how to stay alive. Oh

I hope this follows the Rise of the Governor book and shows how he ends up with zombie Penny in Woodbury.
