Now that Pixar's latest offering, WALL-E, has proven to be one of the most successful and critically acclaimed films of the year, we're all of course eagerly anticipating their next film, UP. In it, Ed Asner voices a 70-something geezer who fights crime with a flying house, a wilderness ranger sidekick and a melon-sized prostate. Disney recently provided us with the above banner and below pic and they've also activated the film's official site. Click to check it out. The crime fighting starts May 29th of next year.

From what I saw at the panel, PIXAR has got another hit on the way, especially since it breaks out of genres yet again. Timpura is correct (although it was Argentina) that there was no crime fighting going on, unless somehow he fights against illegal deforestation or something.

Quick version as per Pete Doctor: Edgar (I believe that was his name) and his wife always planned to go see these waterfalls and mountains in Argentina, but life got in the way. Now that he's getting forced into a retirement home, he takes action in her honor and heads up and away. The kid is a stowaway, but is trying to get his helping the elderly badge, as stated before. That was about all the info that was given at the time.

I don't know if that's a correct summary...

I was at the panel on Saturday, and it seemed that the movie was based more around the main character going to Venuzela (I'm probably wrong on the country) to their very unique mountains in honor of his wife. The boy scout comes along to get his last badge, helping the elderly. The movie does look like another classic Pixar movie, though.

Hip, I am.

Pixar is not simply the best computeranimation studio out there, they actually make movies that are time after time 'one of the years best'. Looking forward to this. And 3D? Wow!

Only PIxar could make a concept like that good. And no doubt, at this point, anything Pixar does is good. They haven't done wrong yet.

i love Pixar films and everything just as much as the next person, but i dont think they should be the only people creating CG movies. if 10-15 years from now, they are still pretty much the only people making CG films, that would kinda suck, the world needs variety and different view points. that doesnt mean Pixar should stop anytime soon. their movies are still great

Sounds great. I already found myself laughing at the idea of this movie. A 70 something year old that fights crime in a flying house??? Fucking fantastic!

Ed Asner and a flying house, i'm in just on the premise alone. I totally agree with Dead as History, Pixar should be the only company to make CG films.

this was supposed to come out on my birthday June 12th, 2009, but...It still looks sweet. That intro was rad, all those balloons made me feel all glowy inside. PIXAR's upcoming film line up looks very impressive. I'm excited.

Pixar should be the only company able to release CG movies. They clearly do it best.
