Venom now titled Venom Carnage; Doc Ock may lead the Sinister Six

08.04.2014

Earlier today we shared news about a female Spider-Man spinoff, and judging by the comments and reaction around the Internet today, it’s going to be a hard sell. We have more news from the Spider-Man universe regarding the Drew Goddard’s SINISTER SIX which is set for a November 11, 2016 release. Reports suggest that Dr. Octopus will be in charge of the villains appearing in the film. I say villains because they get shifted around from time to time in the comics, and they haven’t set a final roster for the movie just yet.

Elsewhere, the long-in-development VENOM movie directed by Alex Kurtzman has a new title, VENOM CARNAGE. There isn’t a ‘v’ or ‘vs’ in there to confuse people, but could this be a Cletus Kasady & Eddie Brock team-up or a fight to the finish?

As per Deadline‘s sources regarding the projects:

“[The film] revolves around all the villains of Spider-Man converging after the evil Dr. Octopus summons them. There are a lot of different Sinister Six team-ups so it has yet to be revealed which characters might appear, but one possibility is Vulture, Mysterio, Electro, Kraven the Hunter and Sandman.”

Here is a suggested VENOM CARNAGE release date for Kurtzman (who would be rushing to finish THE MUMMY which he’s directing now):

“The Venom movie — which we hear is entitled Venom Carnage — is still said to be in development with old pros Alex Kurtzman and Ed Solomon scripting. The Venom pic, which Kurtzman will direct, may also now come out in 2017.”

Sony seems to be scrambling to fix something since their disappointment in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. The movie didn’t gross as much as the first try, but it really didn’t bomb either says this math wiz. It should be noted, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 also had $30 million less of a budget than its predecessor.

My suggestion for next time is not to overstuff the movie; people won’t get bored with one villain, they get bored with a lazy story. Regardless, the next movie (if and when) is likely going to have an incredible amount of pressure riding on it. Poor Andrew Garfield, he just wanted to make some fun movies.

Have you guys been waiting anxiously for VENOM CARNAGE?

Expanding the universe?

Sorry, New York is not a universe and Fox have more wiggle room than Sony will ever have. What is the point of a Sinister 6 movie without Spider-man?

If it is Venom vs Carnge then there is no reason why they need for one of them to be a hero/anti-hero. One just needs to be more insane than the other.

i just want a violent murder gorefest for the Carnage movie. I mean, it's Cletus Kassidy. The man was a psycho and a murderer. who wouldn't want to see a dark creepy carnage movie?

Venom Carnage.... I can't wait to see both (properly) on screen, but why is Sony in such a rush? There's 50+ years of stories. They could EASILY make a Venom trilogy, that Spidey appears in, and THEN make a maximum carnage trilogy. And it'd all be better. But they wanna put ten years into one. Writing comic book films should really be one of the easiest writing jobs in the world. Idk shit ab cgi and shooting action and movie magic, but the comics are right there, and a lot of them are

CG monster vs CG monster tearing up a city just doesn't get me excited. But...maybe they'll have a good story?
After Sony dropped the ball on this Spider-man reboot, I'm weary of anything they touch. They seem to be wanting to ride the Avengers wave rather than help sustain the wave. So, I'll wait until it comes out before I decide one way or the other.

Change the Venom title

Call it Separation Anxiety or Maximum Carnage. Don't call it Venom Carnage, that is the worst fucking title ever.

My guess (and it's purely that) is that Venom would have to become the anti-hero to stop the threat from Carnage who'll be full-on villain. Whatever they end up doing, that's a whole lot of gloopy CG tentacles for one movie. Can't see it ever being a work of genius, but if they get a nasty edge and some twisted humour in there there's always some potential. There's been some decent Carnage comics in recent years, so there's definitely mileage in the character.

'Venom Carnage'? Why stop there, when you could cram in the other five symbiotes from 'Lethal Protector', too? 'Venom Carnage Scream Lasher Phage Agony Riot' just rolls off the tongue.

Then you could have 'The Sinister Six V The Symbiotic Seven: Dawn of Dark Justice' or some stupid shit as an epic crossover sequel that utterly bankrupts Sony once and for all.

Maguire sucked as Spider-Man. And I actually really like the guy. He was a pretty good Peter Parker but just not Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield has the quick wit and carefree personality of Spidey down pat and the love interest was actually believable in this one whereas I never saw the chemistry between Maguire and Dunst. That said, the first two Raimi films are better than the first two ASM films. It's all down to the villains and Raimi knew how to develop the villains and show their motivations

The funny thing, ghost, is that, just like Garfield and Stone, Maguire and Dunst dated while shooting the first SM. But it ended at the end of the shoot, so badly, that, for the promotion of the movies, they contractually asked to NOT see nor talk to each other (they had to make TWO press conferences one right after the other)...

I'll have hope

I'll bloody be there anticipating this 'villains as protagonists' shift. But if they are just making a spidey sequel with the misleading title, then wtf lol

Well

I'm only giving this a green because I will always be excited by the idea of Venom on film. He was the first comic book character that I loved as a youngster. Adding in Carnage? Yup, I'll get on board with that too. Couldn't care less about ASM3 OR Sinister 6 or a female hero.

I wish Venom was done by a studio that would make it an R rated affair like the Blade films. Still, I want to see it. Hope for the best.

That's what I want. I've seen all 5 films and I enjoyed them all, but I want to see him join the rest of Marvel, not him getting tag teamed by a clown car stuffed with bad guys.

Was reading an article about the rights to the hero's Marvel doesn't currently have, which they plan on getting them back. What surprised me was that these new Sony Spider-Man movies aren't completely hands off with Marvel and that Disney helps distribute them, they just don't coincide with the MCU. I think all these production problems will help Marvel/Disney get full right back even quicker, they are half way there already.

This all sounds terrible and will most likely turn out to be rubbish due to the fact that Sony will pick quantity over quality. And I'm still not convinced that Garfield was the right choice for this new rebooted franchise.

I don't care about any of this

Didn't even see Amazing Spider-Man 2, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. You promise a "untold origin" and you deliver nothing. I have no reason to see you sequel, I have no reason to see your spinoffs.

Why would I want to see a movies with self-centered motivations?! Seriously? There is no reason to make movies of villains "just because" you own the rights to the properties. If Marvel decided to make a movie with just Loki that would be a very hard sell. Loki and other

Whatever, keep digging you own graves Fox and Sony, just keep on digging.

I am only guessing they are going to try to do something like Dark Avengers but with the Spider-Man villians...like an Anti-hero team of sorts.--- however it doesn`t seem like a good idea, what a hell are they going to do on their own rob a bank and roll credits?

It just sucks for Garfield, cause he is a better Spidey than Tobey was, just stuck in worse overall movies.

I still don't get/know how the Sinister 6 will work as a stand alone movie. They're definitely rushing the hell out of this and it kind of turned the Amazing Spider-man 2 into a mess. I don't know how they think all of these support/minor/villain characters are going to be a big draw in their own movies if they're having trouble with Spider-man.

I would be disappointed if they put Kraven on the Sinister Six. He deserves his own flick. A lot of the other characters actually work really well in a team but Kraven needs his own fight.

Idk, I just can't get excited about any of these new spider-man and spider-man spin off movies.

Sony is so desperately trying to copy what Marvel is doing but it just feels like they're rushing everything and trying to make a quick buck. If they took more time to plan out the Spider Man movies and villains and slowly expand their universe, maybe I would care.

I think what it comes down to is it feels like Marvel actually cares about their characters....while Sony/DC care about making
