Verbinski gets Clue

Monopoly. Stretch Armstrong. GI Joe. Candyland. Ouija. And of course, Clue.

It's not just the dusty pile of stuff on the top shelf of your closet -- pretty soon, it will be the stuff on your local cinema screens.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN director Gore Verbinski is joining Ridley Scott on the "he's making what?!?" list, picking up the classic board game CLUE with the intent of making it a new feature film for Universal. (Scott, you'll recall, is apparently making a MONOPOLY movie.)

The top-selling Hasbro (Parker Brothers, previously) mystery game involves players solving a murder in a mansion, with a candlestick, rope, pipe and pure frustration among the potential implements of death. The game was already adapted into a 1985 film, which was released with three different resolutions at various theaters.

I just hope Verbinski concentrates his efforts on BIOSHOCK before Colonel Mustard...

Extra Tidbit: Variants of CLUE have included Dungeons & Dragons, Alfred Hitchcock, Harry Potter, The Simpsons and (of course) Scooby Doo.
