Viggo is a no-go for Snow, Mortensen won’t be a Huntsman

Kristen Stewart will need a new mentor when she shows up as Snow White in Universal’s big fairy tale SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN.

Viggo Mortensen had long been in talks to play the Huntsman, who in this version of the Grimm fairy tale takes in the banished Snow and teaches her to fight. But now the negotiations have reportedly fallen apart, leaving the project again in search of an appropriate action father figure.

The fantasy adventure (not to be confused with Relativity’s competing 3D variation THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE) has Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, and comes from writer Evan Daugherty and commercial director Rupert Sanders. The project had previously gone after Tom Hardy, Johnny Depp and Michael Fassbender for the Huntsman role.

So now that The Vig may have an opening on his schedule, could he possibly be reconsidered for the role of Zod in the new SUPERMAN (despite it being refuted by director Zack Snyder)? Or with Javier Bardem still not officially on board THE DARK TOWER, could fan fave Viggo strap on the sixguns as Roland Deschain?
