Viggo Mortensen may get Grimm for Snow White and the Huntsman

Although many fans of Stephen King's DARK TOWER series were hoping to see Viggo Mortensen roam the wastelands blasting man and beast as gunslinger Roland Deschain, those dusty boots will apparently be filled by someone else.

But the Vig is still seeking some adventure in a fantasy realm -- he's considering Universal's fairy tale SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. That's the one from writer Evan Daugherty and commercial director Rupert Sanders, and not Relativity's competing 3D variation THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE with Tarsem Singh (THE CELL, THE FALL) behind the camera.

Viggo would play the mentor figure to young Snow White, and the studio is looking at SUCKER PUNCH star Emily Browning for that part. Charlize Theron is in line to play the wicked queen.

The Huntsman role has seen some hot talent linked to it recently, including Tom Hardy, Johnny Depp and Michael Fassbender, who just joined the non-ALIEN prequel PROMETHEUS. SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN already has a planned release date of December 21, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Guess Peter Jackson couldn't figure out a way to shoehorn Aragorn into his HOBBIT movies?

While on principal a Snow White directed by Tarsem is more attractive, anytime Viggo signs onto something I'm immediately interested.

And no, it's not a shame he couldn't be she-horned into "The Hobbit." It's a miracle.

As one of the Dunedain (sp?), Aragorn could be the right age to make a cameo, if they so wished. Granted, he'd be younger but they could make Viggo younger digitally. I'm still confused about what the second Hobbit movie is suppose to be specifically, but I wouldn't rule him out just yet.

Aren't they just splitting the book into two parts? The second movie is just going to be the latter half.

So I guess Viggo is officially done with the Dark Tower. But surprisingly enough, I see Viggo fitting right into the role.

And regarding the extra tidbit, if that's the case, then it's a shame. But who knows. There is still time to get him involved.
