Vin Diesel sits on a throne of badassery in this new photo for Riddick
I'd like to thank Vin Diesel for being so kind. This guy is always making his fans happy by releasing photos from his upcoming films. One that his fans have been looking forward to is RIDDICK.
Well, Diesel aims to please again this day since he's dropped a new photo from the film. Check him out, owning the hell out of it just sitting on that badass throne. This is the statement that coupled the photo:
The R-rated film comes to us on September the 6th. Not too shabby, eh? Do you guys think this installment will measure up to the rest?
Synopsis: "Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction."

This shoulda been the original sequel
That all said, am the only one who thinks that in Riddick, Vin Diesel acts as if he's got a franchise that has a status...up there with the likes of Aliens or Terminator? Had the last live action outing lived up to its hype, I'm sure it could have reached a higher level and while I believe the character of Riddick still has the potential to rival characters from more successful franchises, he needs another hit live action movie.
All this overhyping the next installment and saying stuff like..."I would eventually have to return to that dark place" is only going to lift everyone's expectations. It's no surprise that I enjoyed Pitch Black...knowing nothing of the movie when I watched it...and then didn't enjoy the next one...possibly on the count of going in with massive expectations. As for returning to that “dark place”...he'd have been there sooner had the last movie been the success it was expected to be.
Wasn't Universal studios just bitching about a lack of franchises? No surprise when they pick release dates like this.

I'm very optimistic...
Umm, yeah.
