Vincent D’Onofrio wants to throw down with Spider-Man as Kingpin

02.28.2017

So while scrolling through Twitter instead of worki -- I mean, looking for news stories, I came across this gem:

While it's obviously unlikely we're going to see any cross-pollination between Marvel TV and the MCU, anything is possible. And Kingpin would make a logical sequel villain for Tom Holland's chipper interpretation of Spider-Man. It's just good to know that Vince himself is up for a showdown.

But what about you Schmoes? You down for a Kingpin/Spider-Man showdown, or would you rather keep up the TV/movie segregation?

Extra Tidbit: I actually prefered Michael Clarke Duncan's Kingpin in the 2003 Ben Affleck-led DAREDEVIL film. Though D'Onofrio is still great.

Absolutely!

I'd love to see some more exchange between Marvel TV and the movies, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin would be an amazing place to start. He killed it in Daredevil S1; they need to use him more often.

Dinofrio has always been a b level type actor to me, he chews scenery and brings down the quality of any film he in. He was only good in full metal jacket, but that was purely due to the context of the picture. Get a real heavyweight (no pun intended) to take on the role, and for the role of kingpin i would actually PREFER someone who wasnt a big fat white guy, change it up, mel gibson, sean penn, billy bob, somebody that oozes power, and cool. Oh and leave it to damien to post the only

B level? Only good in full metal??? Your opinion is completely invalid. He was a top notch in daredevil. He brings a ferocity and intensity to the screen that is perfection for kingpin.

I mean, I'd be down for him to appear as a Spider-Man villain, absolutely.
But the "Back in Black" arc of Amazing Spider-Man kind of once-and-for-all put the kibosh on any idea of the two actually, physically fighting on anything approaching equal footing.
Spidey is just so far out of Kingpin's league that it's a joke.

I'm not really sure that character would fit in with the type of films they are looking to create with Homecoming.

Kingpin could hardly handle the blind acrobat, how would he handle Spidey??

Kingpin never really goes up against Spidey, he usually sends hired goons like Scorpion out to get him. Kingpin would go down in a few punches from Super Strength Spidey if he got knocked out by regular strength Daredevil.

Could be the villain behind the villain. Give a reason for Spider-Man enemies. A rich guy to buy their suits and powers.

Maybe by the third Spider-Man movie, when they decide the way to go is darker. I do think they ought to face off at some point. And the fact Peter Parker is such a New Yorker, it would make sense for him to guest in the Defenders, or vice versa they pop up in his movie.

Make this happen

Would love to see it. He is one of the best villains to grace the Marvel Expanded Universe. And to the author, how the hell can you say the Kingpin from the old daredevil movie was better?? Vincent was amazing in daredevil, and brought sooo much emotion to the character.

If there's one villain from any of the Netflix series to incorporate into the films it's Kingpin. Maybe he could be in a Spider Man sequel and be the one who orchestrates the Sinister Six together??

It is a waste if the MCU doesn't recognize the Netflix Shows. It's sad how The Defender shows on Netflix and Agents of Shield is able to recognize them but the movies simply act like they don't exist.

Aside from Lady Sif whom knows Coulson is alive, it would be nice to see more mcu connection in the movies.
