Viral site for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 teases more villains

10.15.2013

The faux news website The Daily Bugle hasn't been updated since July, but the latest one hints at several villains that could appear in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 or future sequels. The article is about Oscorp's stock performance and technology the company has been developing, and if you're a fan of the comics the names and items mentioned below will sound very familiar.

Oscorp spokesman Douglas Menken provided some details from the meeting, including that the construction on the prototype alternative energy power plant, complete with hydroelectric tower, is on schedule for completion within the next year.

Other highlights included a preview of a flight harness for the military and significant advancements in robotics by the head of the engineering division, Spencer Smythe.

Oscorp personnel dismissed questions regarding Norman Osborn’s health and whether the company’s estranged heir apparent, Harry Osborn, is up to the task of running his father’s conglomerate.

The hydroelectric tower could be a tease for the villain Hydro-Man, who can turn into and manipulate water. Maybe it's a bit of a stretch, but it is possible. If Oscorp is working on a flight harness, that can only lead to one thing in my opinion: Vulture. It's been rumored that's who Colm Feore will be playing in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, and I think Marc Webb definitely has plans on bringing Vulture to the big screen.

Does the name of Oscorp's head of engineering ring any bells? In the comics he's the creator of the "Spider-Slayers," robots that are specifically made to hunt down Spider-Man. Does this mean Spider-Slayers will appear in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2? No, but there could be plans on using the robots in future films.

It appears Marc Webb and Sony have giant plans for the webslinger, and to me it's like they're trying to make their films feel as much like a comic as possible. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 has a ton of potential, and I have my fingers crossed that Webb and Sony will deliver.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Felicity Jones and B.J. Novak will be in theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

not sure if it was mentioned here or not but......

Did anyone hear about Andrew Garfields comment to the press about how he thinks that Spiderman should have a guy for a love interest??? Yeah, he thinks Spiderman should be GAY!! I'm not kidding......he thinks that his love interest should be Micheal B.Jordan.....is this kid stupid, dumb, or just a homosexual in hiding??? probably all of the above. He thinks that because there is a black Spiderman in the comics that society is becoming more and more accepting and that the times call for a Spiderman that swings on poles in more than one way. Yet another point on how celebrities live in their own little worlds; they stray so far from how the typical person thinks that they come up with the most outlandish things because they think they are being inventive or they are edgy or for gods sake artistic!!
Its all just so weird and sad....I don't have anything against who people want to have sex and I really don't care but leave cartoon characters out of it man.....its not artistic or edgy or any of that crap....it just plain stupid and it seems like your doing it for attention. It didn't take Andrew Garfield very long to fall into the over the top celebrity world and start thinking every idea he has is a great one.

Honestly, besides X-men, anything Marvel being made by any other studio than Marvel/Disney does nothing for me. And if they we're to reboot X-men I'd probably lose interest in that franchise as well

Sounds cool. I think the hydro tower is a bit of a stretch regarding Hydro-Man. I thought it was more a hint towards the iconic power plant the Oscorp operates out of in the comics.

The flight harness I think can either hint towards Vulture, or the actual glider used by Green Goblin in the comics. As opposed to the rumored Ultimate version everyone thinks Webb is going for with the Goblin instead.

Hmmmm

Oscorp really fucks things up huh? I wonder what good things they've done, and I hope all the villains don't have a connection to oscorp it makes me think in a similar sense why people still live in Gotham (or, in a different subject, why parents would let their kids go to Hogwarts, at least after the third book). I digress, I love Spidey. He's in my top 3 favorite comic book characters (along with Bats). With that said, I found the last film worse than Raimi's 3rd film with very little

I digress, I love Spidey. He's in my top 3 favorite comic book characters (along with Bats). With that said, I found the last film worse than Raimi's 3rd film with very little worthwhile. I'll say Garfield is a bit better at the part, but I really hope some of these characters are just there to expand the universe like Conners in Raimi's films, so they don't have to completely introduce them, their relationship with Parker, and their motivations, when they become the villain. I will probably see every Spidey film ever made bc I love the character so much, and there's some good, or at least interesting, casting going on, but I hope they don't try to have all these guys fight Spidey in the next one or two sequels, and I'm generally not that excited about the film because of how poor the quality of the last one, but again, I'll still see it, possibly complain again, see the third, possibly complain again and so on. I just hope Webb proves me wrong. There's been such weird choices for directing big budget franchise films with this and Jurassic World. At least Chronicle displayed action on a low budget, and Nolan did that as well and with darkness with memento and insomnia. I'm done rambling.

And the guy who directed Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Beetlejuice was an obvious choice for Batman? Or the guy who directed Elf and Zathura was an obvious choice for Iron Man? Okay, I'm done ranting now too.

I just love the idea that we'll finally be seeing villains on the big screen that we've never seen before. Hopefully we'll get to see Venom again along with Carnage.

Ooh, Smythe. Does that mean we might have Kingpin in this? As for Norman Osborn, I think it's more like Mental Problem.

Said it before, I'll say it again. Seems like we are finally getting a proper spidey movie.

We already have two proper Spider Man films already. And Spider Man 2 is the apex of all of the Spider Man films thus far.

What did you think of the last film? And to the Soloist, I can not agree more. I don't think Spidey 2 can be topped, and I'll go a step farther and say it's one of the 3-4 best comic book films ever made, maybe the best. It's just sheer joy and entertainment.

1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man
3. Spider-Man 2

After that it become a little ambigious (for my money I'd put The Avengers, Batman Begins and X-Men 2 as #'s 4-6) but the top three are an empirical truth and some day science will prove this.

Spider-man 2 is not that good, sure it's arguably the best we have had yet. But! Toby McGuire and Kirstin dunst are dreadful, borderline unwatchable in it. Also it has an incredibly boring hour in the middle. So I've no idea how this gets the praise it does.

Bealzf, I agree. Spider Man 2 may be not the best superhero film of all time, but it's definitely in the top 3 of all time.
