Watch Honest Abe slice and dice with an axe in this new clip from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

06.14.2012

Yet another ass-kicking clip from ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER has sliced its way online, this time featuring a showdown between Honest Abe and his nemesis, played by Rufus Sewell, who unleashes his minions upon the historical figure.

Limber up:

I'm a little surprised by the silence from the movie geeks on this one, as it fits right in line with the "out-of-the-box" concept for something original and cool.  Of course, the same could be said for SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD and look how that turned out.  Personally, I loved it, but apparantly it didn't connect with the pocket change of moviegoers.

Either way, I'll be catching this one in theaters.  I actually think they're underselling it, kind of the way they did JOHN CARTER.  The book is much more complex than you'd think (as was JOHN CARTER) and it's kind of being sold as a simple action romp.  I sincerely hope that if it delivers on being a kick ass flick that it doesn't squander its potential audience by selling just the blood, gore, and axe chops.

Director Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED) has got a great eye for action and even if you're sick of speed ramping (I'm a sucker for it) I think this will satisfy most blood-thirsty audiences.  Consider that the next TWILIGHT movie, which features fangless hipster vampires that sparkle in the sun will likely "eclipse" this flick, which features menacing-looking vampires with big fangs and sharp claws.  Such a shame...

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER takes office on June 22, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Once again, I have to trumpet the score for this by Henry Jackman. Great thematic stuff. If you liked his music for X-Men: First Class then you'll dig this one as well. Can't wait to hear it in context with the film.
