Watch out or this new trailer for My Soul to Take will take your soul

Aug. 17, 2010by: Niki Stephens

If you had high hopes for MY SOUL TO TAKE, you may want to abandon them.

After seeing this trailer, that's exactly what I feel like I should do. Maybe it's the trailer. It just reminds me of how sad I am for the current state of horror films. When I first heard about this project, trust me, I wasn't completely sold. But there was this part of me that was excited about some new original material from Wes Craven. Anyway, I won't go on about my sadness. Maybe someone here will appreciate what's presented in this trailer. At least it's not a remake.

Also, a note to the band that "created" the song used in the trailer...just stop.

Official Synopsis:

"In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer.

Adam "Bug" Heller (Max Thieriot) was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane. Unaware of his dad's terrifying crimes, he has been plagued by nightmares since he was a baby. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that's returned, he must face an evil that won't rest...until it finishes the job it began the day he was born."

Looks like a PG-13 'Elm Street' with an unmemorable antagonist.

When will they learn

Looks like another PG13 horror movie for teens, so I'll avoid this like the twiglet movies. When will movie studios make horror movies for adults?

This looks so bad

Looks like your typical Hollywood slasher film with the trailer trying to build up hype around the horror master director. Everything about it just looks awful.

And the last great horror movie was Drag Me to Hell.

Better be R! It looks pretty good.

If they make this PG-13 I'm gonna be pissed. This needs to be R so we can really get into it. None of that kiddie crap. The last good Horror film I saw...Hmmm Can't think of one. The last good Horror thing was "Dead Space." It was a great scary fun game. Last film that scared me was "Candyman" when it came out in '92. I wish something scared me, nothing does anymore. Rats. "Candyman, Candyman, Candyman, Candyman, Candyman" turn off the lights he's behind you! Loved that. Come back

What happened to Craig Sheffer ("River Runs Through it, The Program") anyway. Last I saw he was doing direct-to-DVD & crappy made for TV movies. At least he was/is? married to Gabrielle Anwar. The hot gal from "Burn Notice."
Happened I liked the song BTW.

I'm in! It's Wes Craven and I always have faith in Wes.

And by the way. Niki. The band is the Sick Puppies. And they are one of the better bands nowadays.

I'll wait to see this but judging from the trailer...I'd say Bug is the killer and in order for his/his father's soul to rest he must kill off his 6 close friends who were born the same day as him/his father was killed. Could be wrong but either way blah.

Elm Street remake is right. I swear that kid was even in the Elm Street remake. The big difference here being post-conversion 3D. No thanks.

It's a remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" with mild alterations. No thank you, Wes.

Last great horror film I saw was a tie between Frat House Massacre, and Survival of the Dead.

Aside from some cool visual effects and cinematography, this thing looks pretty boring. Sure, it looks a lot better than all the other horror crap coming out these days, but still bland nonetheless.

I have a feeling I'm going to be in the minority, but aside from the cinematography and atmosphere in the bridge scene this looks pretty bland, boring and predictable. Oh well.

I would have loved this when I was younger. Who knows, I still might. Looks promising.

Word!

This looks like it has promise. A classic premise with a dash of "fucked up" for good measure. Have to admit though, my heart kind of sank when I saw the "In 3-D" during the trailer. Is it really necessary to add another $4-5 to the ticket price for the sake of a shiny bowie knife? Perhaps I will wait till it hits the shelves. Still looking forward to it regardless!
