David Fincher's first foray into television has premiered today. The Netflix original series HOUSE OF CARDS debuted all 13 first season episodes, but even non-subscribers can enjoy the first episode for free online.

Head on over the the Netflix site and you can stream the series premiere right now, but for the other 12 episodes you will have to shell out $7.99 a month.

Plot: Ruthless and cunning, Congressman Francis Underwood (Oscar® winner Kevin Spacey) and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) stop at nothing to conquer everything. This wicked political drama penetrates the shadowy world of greed, sex, and corruption in modern D.C. Kate Mara (“American Horror Story”) and Corey Stoll (“Midnight in Paris”) costar in the first original series from David Fincher (“The Social Network”) and Beau Willimon (“The Ides of March”).

Fincher has never directed for TV before so it will be interesting to see how his visual style translates. But, with the production values of series as high as some films, we may not see much of a difference. All I know is the trailer makes it look damn good and it is nice to see Spacey and Fincher reuniting.

HOUSE OF CARDS has already been renewed for a second season, which means Netflix has some faith in the popularity of the show. Check it out for yourselves and voice your opinion in the talkbacks below.

Extra Tidbit: I wonder if the show is eligible for Emmy or Golden Globe awards.

I am on the sixth episode and it is very good. I would recommend shelling out the cash for a month, or just sign up for a free trial and do a marathon of the series.

Damn, seeing this makes me want to re-watch the original series. I used to love that show - Ian Richardson was amazing as Urquhart, it's worth checking out.

Sorry, Netflix is not available in your country yet.

Thank you for that. Off to the pirates I go.

I'd certainly give it a chance. The British series it's based on was pretty gripping stuff and Fincher directing it can't be a bad thing.

It's pretty good. It's slow and talky (hard to sit through at times), reminds me a lot of 'Lincoln' in that respect, but I'm mostly enjoying what I've seen of it. Though I don't see it becoming a big hit.
