Watch the first minute of the Marvel one-shot All Hail The King right now

Jan. 15, 2014by: Alex Maidy

When the first images of the Ben Kingsley Marvel one-shot ALL HAIL THE KING were unveiled recently, many began to theorize the possibility of a different incarnation of The Mandarin appearing in IRON MAN 4 or a future AVENGERS movie. While most folks were disappointed with the Trevor Slattery bait-and-switch tactic employed in IRON MAN 3, you have to admit Kingsley's performance was damn hilarious.

Drew Pearce, IRON MAN 3 writer and ALL HAIL THE KING director, has defended the twist that angered many and this 14 minute short film may not fix all of those hard feelings but it could certainly set the path in the right direction. In this opening clip shared by Entertainment Weekly, we are introduced to Scoot McNairy's character, a documentary filmmaker looking to find out the true story behind Trevor Slattery's deception.

We will have to wait until February 25th to see the full short on the THOR: THE DARK WORLD Blu-ray, so enjoy this tease for now.

Drew can defend his dumb decision all he wants, but it doesn't make it right.

Really Terror? And when did you poll the whole world to determine the Mandarin's standing as a likable character? I myself have always been a fan of all magic users in my funny books, and related media. Such as Dr. Strange, Dr. Doom, and the Mandarin. So at least one person did in fact give a shit.

Yes, it does. Nobody gave two shits about the Mandarin until this film came along.

I know this is beating a dead horse but (forgive me I have to say it!) they really missed a great opportunity to set up/explore the world of magic versus science even further in the Marvel universe by not taking a serious approach to the Mandarin. It seemed to work in perfectly with Stark's rattled post Avengers nature and could have set up Dr. Strange in a round about way. Not to mention Kingsley is such an amazing actor and frankly I was digging his bad guy nature in the first half. There's a

There's a part of me that hopes they find a way to mend this through the one-shot and that "Trevor" is a trick the Mandarin has deceived the world with. Also cool to see Scoot McNairy in a Marvel production.

One of the biggest disappointments was how they even went as far as teasing the rings of power in the trailer. They clearly showed a close up of his hands, like a quick easter egg for those who know the comics. I don't even think they were mentioned in the film.

Just imagine that after seeing the Iron Man 3, Kingsley was the badass Mandarin depicted in the epic trailer...and that the film focused on a rattled Tony Stark who after realising he's not as clever as he thinks he is about all things science as a result of the Avengers has been building armour after armour, trying to deal with every possible scenario (at this moment...this is exactly the angle the trailer led me to believe Iron Man 3 was taking). Now imagine we got all that...but to top it

Now imagine we got all that...but to top it off...the teaser at the end...where Bruce goes I'm not that kind of Doctor....teased Dr Strange. How f-ing brilliant would Iron Man 3 have been? Don't you hate it when something as cool as that was right there on a plate...and they chose what they chose instead? I read a blog on another website, where a guy presented his version of how Iron Man 3 could have been tweaked, which was equally as cool. Basically Banner and Stark are working on something (a subplot) during the movie which picks up a signal from space. At the end Stark takes his new Deep Space suit up in to space to track down the source of the signal which ends up teasing Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel have mostly got so much right its unbelievable its such a shame they got it so wrong with Iron Man 3 I wonder if if had something to do with the fact that people were annoyed with how much Iron Man 2 was about the Avengers that this time around, it was all going to be about Stark but with that disappointing (but well played by Kingsley) twist.

As much as I loved Iron Man 3, you make alot of great points in this. Would have been cool to have the film reference Doctor Strange or have Stark go up in space and runs into the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Love the Jamaican and Spanish accents.

Please tell me there's an extended deleted scene of Ben just doing accents and I'll buy the blu ray.
