Watch the new Scrat short film, Continental Crack Up, Part 2

Nov. 17, 2011by: Mike Sampson

It's so nice to have animated shorts back. We don't get a lot from DreamWorks, but Pixar, Warner Bros. and Blue Sky have been repeatedly turning out some entertaining animated shorts that have been running before their movies.

To promote ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT, in theaters next summer, Blue Sky is creating a series of shorts called "Scrat's Continental Crack-Up" featuring everyone's favorite prehistoric crackhead squirrel. Normally you'd have to wait until ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED hits theaters to see this but luckily Fox has posted the whole thing online a little early.

Unfortunately, it's less of Scrat's antics and more setting up some of the action that we'll eventually see in the film. There are some characters here that we haven't met yet but can imagine will play a big part when the film is released. Check out the latest short below and remember, for another animated short, check out THE MUPPETS in theaters next week to see the TOY STORY short "Small Fry."

Scrat is the most irritating character ever created.

Downloaded it

I downloaded the two shorts from the Apple iTunes store and watched them back-to-back, when you put them together, it's like watching a 5-minute prequel/trailer for the upcoming film.

And Scrat is still as hilarious as ever. Reminds me of an early ancestor Wile E. Coyote.
