Watchmen video journal

ComingSoon has the first video journal from WATCHMEN, which you can check out right over HERE. There's no footage from the flick, but we do get a good look at the feel of the film (or a good feel for the look?), which is pretty tight. There are 12 journals, which will be premiering on different sites on the 6th of each month. WATCHMEN is of course Zack Snyder's attempt to live up to the mammoth expectations 300 put on his shoulders. Fortunately the film is based on probably one of the greatest graphic novels ever written.

Synopsis: Set an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the watchmen? The film stars Carla Gugino, Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Malin Akerman.
Extra Tidbit: When I was watching LITTLE CHILDREN and Jackie Earle Haley was whacking off in his blind date's car, I just had this feeling... an inkling, if you will, that in a couple of years I'd be rooting for him when he played the lead role in a superhero movie based on one of the most beloved literary properties of all time. It was just the only logical next step.
